And they have a beast in Devonta Freeman.

Biggest gaffe of the game: Shanahan's 2nd half play calling? Or Matty Ice taking a sack on 2nd and long, pushing the team to the edge of field goal range (and ultimately out of range entirely after a hold on 3rd-and-forever)? They started that series on the 22 yard line...I know this has been beaten ad nauseam, but I still can't believe how bad Shanahan was in the 2nd half.

Matty ice was put in the position to throw by the bonehead play calling

They also weren't using the full play clock, or even close. They were snapping the ball with 12-15 seconds left each time it seemed... why not milk it when you're under five or six minutes?

Almost like it's fixed.

Yup, the play clock thing was another huge, constant gaffe.
Also, on that play that Matt Ryan got strip-sacked (and basically was the beginning of the end for the Falcons), Devonta Freeman had one of the worst missed blocks I've ever seen.

They should've been milking it from their first possession of the second half. They also weren't using the full play clock, or even close. They were snapping the ball with 12-15 seconds left each time it seemed... why not milk it when you're under five or six minutes?

When I saw this happening live it seemed like a miscommunication. The block freeman put on looks like someone setting up a screen but Ryan didn't even look there.Yup, the play clock thing was another huge, constant gaffe.

it was third and 1. i cant get over that. run the ball. if you make it, run it three more times. if you dont, let the clock run and punt it. just arrogant playcalling.

In their limited defense, it is 2017 and teams throw on 3rd and 1 all the time in this day and age.
if anyone can find the stats, this gentleman would love to know how often teams threw on 3rd and 1 10 years ago compared to now.

Except for when leading in the Super Bowl in the last quarter and all you have to do is not turn the ball over in a horrible fashion. In their limited defense, it is 2017 and teams throw on 3rd and 1 all the time in this day and age.

IIRC, Freeman was in there because Coleman was injured on the previous play

It's from a few years ago, but that's all I got.

I heard someone talking about this, and they said yeah, throwing it isn't a bad idea, but they had three people going vertical and were in shotgun, so maybe not the best playcall. In their limited defense, it is 2017 and teams throw on 3rd and 1 all the time in this day and age.
