Better question: do I now hate America because I sat during the national anthem myself?

Helps plan it, doesn't want to be singled out, **** everyone over after the fact. Shitbag move.Alejandro Villanueva's emergence from the Soldier Field tunnel during Sunday's national anthem surprised many members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told ESPN.
Villanueva, a former Army Ranger who served terms in Afghanistan, was the lone Steeler to appear despite an expectation from Saturday's players-only meeting that the entire team would remain in the locker room, the source said.
The starting left tackle was a key figure in the team's protest planning because of his background. Players wanted to accommodate Villanueva, who expressed during their 30-minute session that he didn't want to be singled out, the source said. Moving the protest off the field entirely was a way to keep solidarity without isolating an individual.
"That's where the confusion came in," the source of the anthem sequence said.
It sounds like they were thinking of him when planning it, not him helping plan it.

Ben and co. backed down.
I am so tired of hearing about how kneeling is disrespect to soldiers and armed forces. Just so done with it.
I have friends that are cops on facebook all up in arms because they take it as disrespect - and they rightfully should. Which I'm totally cool with. If there's "allowed to be a few bad eggs within their ranks" I'm totally fine with the protesting until there's no bad eggs.

Good work by Al to come out and apologize and admit that he inadvertently screwed up and made his coach and teammates look bad. Guess the far right will need to search for a new hero.
Wait till they realize he has birthright citizenship.

Or he is just a good person that has proven before that he is selfless and doesn't want to disrespect other people's views, even if they are different than his own.
See it's easy to spin it to fit whatever narrative a person wants.

This entire issue is overblown, and frankly, I didn't think he or anyone else needed to apologize or make any comments about it.

Steelers, under Tomlin, now 11-13 in road games in which we are favored against losing record non-divisional opponents. 5-19 ATS.

"AB is the best receiver in the world, maybe one of the best to ever play the game," Roethlisberger told 93.7. "I'd like to think him and I together may be one of the best quarterback/wide receiver combos to ever play the game. I don't know he needs to react that way. He's superhuman on the football field, and when that happens it almost brings him back to being a mere mortal, if you will. Because it gets in his head and it just messes with all of us a little bit. ... I'm not trying to call AB out. I just think this is causing a distraction that none of us really need."

That's probably the first time I've seen a major explosion from Brown. Dude has changed dramatically from the time he entered the league until now, and you have to worry if you have a guy like that - how far can he get you?

what is distracting about a man wearing multicolored suits, posting facebook live videos after a playoff game, and/or throwing Gatorade coolers mid-game

The only other time I remember a receiver flipping out on Haley though was Boldin in the NFC finals game before they went to the Super Bowl.
So this was probably all Haley's fault.

“I told him on the sideline, ‘AB, just come talk to me, ask me what happened, tell me you were open,’ ” Roethlisberger said, quite reasonably, before adding this: “You know, if that were Heath Miller, I’d probably ask Heath on the sideline, ‘Hey Heath, were you open?’ And he’d probably tell me, ‘No,’ because he wouldn’t want you to feel bad. That’s just who he was … that goes a lot further than throwing a temper tantrum.”
