2017 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread

Postby Viva la Ben » Wed Feb 07, 2018 12:51 pm

I have decided to return to California to be able to be a part of my youngest son's last year of high school football.

I want to thank Mr. Art Rooney II and the Rooney family, Coach Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert, the coaching staffs I have worked with throughout my time in Pittsburgh, and the entire Steelers organization. It has been a privilege and honor to play and coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I also want to thank all of the players I have coached during my seven years with the team - it truly was an honor to work with them. Finally, I would like to thank Steelers fans for their support and for being the best fans in the NFL during both my time as a player and coach.

For some reason, his jersey number (37) is forever imprinted on my brain. Probably from Madden.

I fell like Carnell Lake doesn't get his due as a player. I really liked him.

My memory of Lake is also from Madden. But it's Summerall's pronunciation of his name that is imprinted.

"Great defensive play by....LAKE"

Better CB/safety combo: Woodson/Lake or Taylor/Polamalu?

Rod Woodson is the best player in that group. I’d have to say Woodson/Lake.

Taylor/Polamalu. Can’t go wrong with either pair, though.

Was listening to a podcast yesterday and that shitsipper Lacanfora introduced "Hall of Fame Raven Rod Woodsoon" and I almost drove into opposing traffic.

If you were to make a Top 25 list of the best corners and safeties ever, Woodson (obviously), Lake (likely), Polamalu (obvi again) would be on their respective lists. Ike would not be.

Edge: Woodson/Lake

Woodson spent 4 years in Baltimore. That's a horrific way to introduce him. Ike was a pretty damn good CB for a decent stretch. His career would be more highly thought of if he could catch the damn ball. Woodson had almost as many pick 6's (12) as Ike did total interceptions (14). Woodson's 71 career interceptions is just a staggering number to me.

There are only two guys with more picks than Woodson, and one of them played at least part of their career before the rule change that defined an 'eligible receiver'.

Ike dropped at least 20-30 picks that a CB with average hands would have had.

Johnstown's own.

Secondary coach... I couldn't imagine promoting a college position coach to their first NFL gig and it's as a coordinator gig for a team with Superb Owl talent.
