Bentley is a good get.

Hope they can get the WR that was just in too though I think he is visiting Louisville before he decides.

As expected, Jordan Whitehead announced on Twitter that he's leaving early for the NFL Draft.

It will be weird if he becomes a rookie UFA

Yeah I think someone takes a chance on him in the first few rounds just based on potential and athleticism thinking they can coach him up. I'm sure he got some assurance that teams were looking at him and he wasn't going to go undrafted that led to him declaring early.

Whitehead is excellent in run support and his athleticism made him stand out when you watched him on the field. His coverage skills need work, but I'd be stunned if he's still on the board at the end of Round Three.

If Mike Mitchell can carve out a decade-long career as a starting safety in the NFL, Jordan Whitehead will be fine.

Kind of expected. Wonder where he winds up/what position.

Gotta be a 1-AA QB I'd imagine

Blah. Had such high hopes for his career. Best of luck to him. Current QB depth now looks like:

Pickett
DiNucci
Nick Patti - true freshman recruit
Jake Zilinskas - junior walk-on transfer from John Carroll
Tyler Zelinski - sophomore preferred walk-on JUCO transfer from Erie Community College

If the Nucc decides to transfer the depth at QB is rough.

I find it hard to believe that if dinucci wants to play p5 football, which I presume he does given he walked away from his Penn offer to go to Pitt, that he transfers. he's better off sticking it out here for another year on the basis that (1) Pickett struggles or (2) gets hurt and so he gets PT. If he graduates this year (presumably hes smart and is on track since hes a RS JR this coming year) he can then go somewhere else and not sit out a year and see what he can find.

If he decides playing P5 isnt important, then he can transfer to a FCS school and play immediately and probably score another opportunity at an Ivy-caliber school if he kept his grades up.

Appears this guy is soon to be a Pitt commit:

https://247sports.com/Player/Shocky-Jacques-Louis-93092

offers from michigan, michigan state, ohio state, florida, florida state, georgia, etc etc. ESPN has him as a four star and 24/7 and Rivals as high three stars. Need some talent at WR, nice pickup

If they can land him and Harris after pulling in Bentley this class will be in very nice shape. It's kinda weird that we've been in a bunch of recruiting battles with Kentucky lately

Good thing we wasted so many games with him at QB this year. QB depth is now a poop emoji.

QB depth is always going to be an issue cause kids want to play. THat being said.. better hope the Panthers can keep Pickett upright.

Would be very bad to have O’Neil declare. Morrissey alone is going to get a QB killed one day. Losing 3 of 5 starting OL (even if RT was a turnstile) would be bad news.

DiNucci transferring out
I blame Max Browne. Maybe if they were coaching up DiNucci instead of fawning over that loser Dinucci would've been better prepared.

It probably wouldn't have made a difference but that's my hot take and I'm sticking with it.

@dodint, I think its fair. Browne must look like Joe Montana in practice, because he fooled two separate staffs at USC and Pitt into thinking he was a viable starting QB, which he very much was not. We probably land at the same place in the end, as I think DiNnucci's physical limitations and inability to throw a pass with any zip or accuracy beyond 10-15 yards means he's not a starting P5 QB either, but maybe he plays better when he was in there this season.

denucci's career at pitt was toast the moment that pickett lowered his shoulder into that Miami DB midway through the first half.

They can't be competitive with DiNucci, so I'm not sure this matters.
