Downtown near the convention center is gridlocked. Kick in the nads for me since I am going to miss PIAS this year.

Try driving down Fifth towards Penn in Shadyside.

Just don't use the right lane if you want to have tires on your right side.

H/T to PennDOT who decided 7:45 during rush hour traffic in a driving rainstorm was the ideal time to close one lane of 79 norf by the Southpointe interchange to patch some little potholes.

Tuesday, I left 10 minutes early...arrived 10 minutes late. Fine, whatever.
Wednesday, I left 20 minutes early...arrived 20 minutes late. Honestly, go **** yourself.

Averaged 13mph on my commute today.

Never got out of 2nd gear on most of 8 and ALL of 28.

I was almost late myself. There was something weird going on on Camp Horne Rd - there were road closed barriers going across it near Avonworth Park, but people were driving around them. I turned around and went a different way - I know there was a landslide on one of its offshoots recently.

Siebert and McKnight was closed; pedestrian accident. A lot of McKnight traffic needed to be re-routed. Apparently there was also a fire on Thompson Run that closed a part of that down as well, so I think some of the McKnight traffic needed to get to Rt 8.

I punched my commute into GMaps and it said there was a delay on 28. Glanced at 279 and saw that it was completely red as well, figured I'd stick with the nightmare I know and went 28, glad I did.

The reports on the radio this morning made the parkway west sound pretty bad.

I spent a lot of time earlier today talking with my dad trying to figure out the best route for him to get to since he usually takes 30 to get to work in tahn. Should be miserable

I would imagine there will be a butt-ton of people detouring through Braddock. Greenburg Pike/Brown Ave. will be a mess too.

So glad I moved away from that area. That being said, this is not good for the people of that neighborhood.

Perhaps a silver lining will be when the road is rebuilt, they can install a sidewalk and widen the road. I always held my breath driving through that section of road.

Anyone know if 279 S has reopened? It was closed this morning due to an accident. I figured it'd be open by now but Google and Apple Maps are telling me it's closed.

Found an answer to my own question after some Twitter digging...

As of 4:15 pm.
PENNDOT: Southbound lanes on 279 near Camp Horne Road to remain closed at least another hour. #WPXI

Dump truck driver lost control, flipped, and spilled load onto the road which blinded other drivers. Dump truck driver died, not known if it was due to the accident or what ultimately caused the accident (IIRC a tractor trailer flipped on 79 about 2 months ago because the driver had a medical emergency and lost control).
