They would have done that on their own if your plate number is in their database tied to your EZ Pass account, is what I'm getting at.But as I noted, the EZ Pass transponder worked fine all year up until that evening. I used it in three other states that afternoon and it worked fine. They will look up your plate number in their database and automatically just charge you for the tolls. They are assuming you are not an ezpass customer and contacting you for the toll plus fine. That doesn't make sense, mac.
They have a form (part D) just for people with transponders that didn't work. You fill in your account number and they deduct the cost of the toll (discounted to the EZ Pass rate) and remove the fine. It would be nice if they had done this on their own but I have to return these two pieces of paper.

And I'm telling you they didn't. These are not vague, hard to discern facts. I don't dispute that might be the way it should work; or that you believe that's the way it should work. I'm telling you the plate has been in their database since May and for whatever reason this day the system failed. It fails often enough that they have an entire section of the form pre-printed to resolve this exact problem.
Traffic Copter
Well you never said your plate number was in their database.
Traffic Copter
Well, it's a requirement for use of the transponder. But I didn't explicitly state it so my bad.

It failed for me as well. Same circumstance, on a road trip, worked the whole time except for the last PA exit. My plate is in the database but I still got a physical bill for $70+.

VINDICATED.

It's worked for me at times, and at others it hasn't. And also, sometimes your plate number changes, or you move transponders between vehicles.

Yeah. Tractor trailer jackknifed in the middle of the Veterans Bridge, there was a luxury SUV nestled inside of it. Looks like he wanted to merge into one of the far right lanes and the SUV tried to either beat him on the inside or the truck never saw him. Anyway, traffic backed up all the way past my on ramp at Exit 5 on 28, took about 75 minutes to get the 10 miles to work since the Vet Bridge was down to one lane and people just can't help themselves to some rubber necking.

This is an ongoing thing with my wife. I find that asking "Did you check traffic on Google maps before you left?" is not a good question to ask her when she is already sitting in traffic.I used to, but I got cocky.

Thing was, it was backed up to Rt. 8 as well, and *just* as I made it too far down the on-ramp to turn back I realized the lane that goes across the 62nd street bridge was empty and I realized right then I was ****.

It never fails...on Fridays, when traffic should be lighter, some schmuck that doesn't know how to drive gets in an accident on the 30 bypass on my way to work, and it ends up being a worse commute than it is M-Th.
Traffic Copter
Commute was great today, got to work at the same time as normal despite leaving later. Rarely works in that direction. Also parked a level lower in the garage as it wasn't as full as normal. Good start to the day.

for those of yinz that live east of the city, bidness 22/edgewood/rodi road exit is/was closed. monitor your traffic patterns

Big accident involving a tanker truck and like 6 cars.

Fantastic commute, no waiting anywhere. Parked in a lower level of the garage. Pittsburgh garages are free today.
