They closed down the important part of Thompson Run Road. As a result, everyone and their mother is now using McKnight. Traffic is more atrocious than normal.

So glad we moved somewhere where we don't have to deal with McNightmare Rd.

I really loathe the self-leveling non-linear nature of my commute. I make the effort to get up 30 minutes earlier to try and get to the office a little earlier so I can get out a little earlier to get into afternoon traffic. But no. It was a solid line of cars all the way from about 2 miles up Rt. 8, down 28, and across the Vet bridge to 7th Ave. Got to my desk the same time I always do. Honestly, go **** yourself traffic.

That commute will never get any better. There just isn't enough room for 28 to expand to size needed for the volume of traffic.

Today was unusual, or simply a product of me leaving earlier. It could be like that every day. Rt. 8 isn't normally backed up that far. Nor is the Vet bridge.

I did see a bicyclist almost get run over downtown while walking to my office, so that was cool.

Have you ever tried shooting across the 62nd street bridge and taking Butler St. all the way in?

I go home that way sometimes but haven't tried it in the morning yet.

Now that I telework two days a week my desire to find the ultimate commute has decreased a bit. Just today was the worst AM commute I've had in a while.

Yeah, 28 likes to do that occasionally. When I worked on the North Side, n co-worker there drove down 28 from Kitanning. Every. Single. Day.

There isn't enough scotch in the world to deal with that.

My wife takes the 8 to 28 pilgrimage the 3 times a week she works. She'll say every time that this route >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the parkway east through the squirrel hill tunnel nightmare.

Yes. Mainly (for me) because I have the option of crossing over and taking 279 down if 28 is terrible. When I lived east of the city and 376W was a parking lot at the tubes, my only other option is to go all the way up and catch...28.

I do feel bad for my wife. She has to work in Bellevue today for a 2 hour shift. Shitty commute and she'll make less than $20 after taxes.

perhaps i am an idiot, but why are they putting asphalt down on 279? wont that just create a more issues with holes in the asphalt and paving potholes? the previous 279 i thought was actually quite fine

FYI... the Greenfield Bridge re-opens on October 14th. This should save me at least 10 minutes on my commute home.

7th Street Bridge should be open in a few months. Hope that eases some of the traffic that gathers near the convention center in the afternoon.

****.

Do you know how nice it's been to make the left out of Theater Square garage onto 7th without waiting an hour? Being able to make a left onto Ft. Duquesne Blvd. without waiting another hour? I was hoping it'd stay closed forever.

hahaha

Tomorrow is my first field site inspection. I picked the field office at Neville Island.

Dense Fog Advisory for the entire area tomorrow. Of course I'd pick that particular morning to visit an island in middle of the Ohio river. Why not?

Best of luck to yinz.

2 out of my last 3 morning commutes have seen accidents on 279 between Venture and East St (almost in the exact same spot).

Can we make it 3 out of 4 today?

It wasn't bad at all. I parallel Neville Island on Rt. 65 every day, the fog wasn't bad this morning.

It never fails...on Fridays, when morning traffic is generally not that bad, some dipsht will get in an accident and gum up traffic all over the place. Happened this morning, like clockwork.
