The signage for the outbound 279n lane split is probably the worst I have ever seen. This is specifically related to the the signage immediately in front of the split. The digital boards are helpful. Once you get close it is quite unclear

Yup. I drive it every day and I still get in a pit in my stomach at the split thinking I've gone the wrong way.

the next 4 months of this are going to be brutal. everyday is a disaster. At least in May and June we get the natural decreases from people on vacation but this is off to an awful start.

Is this having a secondary effect on 28N?

I generally take the McCoullough Bridge and enter 28 from Heinz St.

The only thing that would make that more Pittsburgh if it happened when someone was trying to pull off a Pittsburgh left.

They spent all weekend paving Fifth Avenue in Shadyside but somehow never got around to painting lanes. Making the drive home interesting

28 Outbound is **** right now, an accident up near Millvale has that route backed up an additional 1hr 15min longer than normal. I'll be taking 279 home tonight.

That's going to be even worse, with the construction there and the traffic spillage from 28.

Most of you are already aware of this I'm sure. I encounter a merge like this every day driving to work (Route 100 ending at 202 in Exton) and it never ceases to frustrate me how people will come to a complete stop in the lane that is ending a quarter mile from the merge so they can "considerately" move over. People are dumb.

Yup. When getting onto 28 at Etna people will stop traffic to merge across the solid white line. Luckily that's four lanes merging into two so you can go around these asshats and still keep traffic moving.

We should be allowed, nay, encouraged to shoot rubberneckers in the head. It would be messy and cause more traffic at first, but as they're culled from the herd over time traffic (and society) will be much better generally.

28 South from somewhere above Etna all the way down to the 31st Street Bridge was a standstill this morning because people were stopped watching a fender bender in the northbound lanes.

This is yet another one of those mornings where I purposely left early to get to work early and ended up later than usual. I **** hate that, a lot.

My phone even said "Lighter traffic than usual" so it must have occurred right after I left my house.

It happens on rt 79/70 split here near Washington every so often..seems that stretch has been under construction for 15 years.
We got out of the wc/Exton/lionville area right when they put in the Exton rt 202 bypass. It’s crazy how much sprawl has happened since we left in 2003

The s-bends on 79 get me constantly. It's like people purposely slow down there to a crawl.

The sprawl is insane now. Western suburbs are just bonkers. The nice thing for me is that I can take back roads into West Chester and not deal with the bypass. That said, this morning driving to work was my first true summer drive--did not hit one bit of traffic and made it in about 15 less minutes than usual.

I have no way of explaining it but this is the second day in a row of an absolutely perfect 28 South commute. 60mph all the way from Etna to the Vets Bridge. Heaven!

I don't think I've ever seen someone drive 45 on 28 with minimal traffic around.

Summertime is a bit different, obviously, but I watched a guy nearly kill himself a while back during wintery conditions. The road was definitely slick, but he came flying down past us on 28 doing about 70 and spun a full 360°. I was amazed that he didn't end up in a steaming pile.
