Fantastic commute, no waiting anywhere. Parked in a lower level of the garage. Pittsburgh garages are free today.
A++, would do again.

9 car accident on 279 by Venture. Avoid if possible.
Me? Might as well get comfortable.

That gnarly accident that shut down inbound 28 yesterday afternoon/evening worked in my favor, it prevented people from coming down 28 and clogging up Rt. 8. #SilverLining

Fires out here in California have ground things to a halt. Talk about traffic.

Drivers in this city are such a god damn disappointment. Autonomous cars can't come soon enough.

It took me 15 minutes longer than normal because omg something is falling from the sky we all need to **** panic and drive like geriatrics

Yeah, I left earlier and got there later. Not impressed.

It's funny...my kneejerk reaction is "THEY'LL PRY THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS"...then, I think about being able to fly down the turnpike at a high speed, never sitting in traffic, etc. That said, while I know gridlock is largely human-caused, I am skeptical that automation is a cure for high volume.Drivers in this city are such a god damn disappointment. It is, though. Having every car at a green light start moving at the same time in and of itself will improve things immensely. Add in cars doing proper and efficient lane changes in town and on the highway and you'll be amazed at quickly the congestion goes away. Imagine, if you can, if a road like Route 28 flowed with people actually merging at speed and only changing lanes when it didn't affect the flow of traffic. Imagine 376 with no tunnel monster...It's funny...my kneejerk reaction is "THEY'LL PRY THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS"...then, I think about being able to fly down the turnpike at a high speed, never sitting in traffic, etc. That said, while I know gridlock is largely human-caused, I am skeptical that automation is a cure for high volume.Drivers in this city are such a god damn disappointment. It brings a tear to my eye if we're honest. It's just so beautiful.

On the flip side, I've seen an automated Volvo back-up traffic because it sensed someone on the sidewalk and thought they were in the crosswalk.

When I reread my post after submitting that thought immediately occurred to me. I still think those instances would be outweighed by the overall improvement.

This is the kind of stuff that concerns me, and is why I think it will be considerably longer than people are saying until we are fully automated. It's going to be difficult to program that kind of intelligence into automated cars, because the companies have to err so far on the side of caution. On the flip side, I've seen an automated Volvo back-up traffic because it sensed someone on the sidewalk and thought they were in the crosswalk.
I get what dodint is saying though, in terms of basic, reactionary things.

2 separate accidents at Venture St on the Parkway North this morning.
I drive that every day. How the **** are people getting into accidents there constantly? It's literally a straight stretch of road.

Good traffic day this morning. I suspect this afternoon will be different unless the snow holds off.

Last night was awful. Got hit with a whiteout and everyone got scared and stopped. You would figure that with the number of hills we have around here, people with little cars that get scared would know well enough that stopping = death for traction.

I made it home fine yesterday but about a half hour later those thick snow bands were ripping through the valley my house is on. Looked crazy, I'd go from not being able to see the neighbors house across the street to being able to see all the way to the other side of the valley in a matter of minutes. Really neat from the couch; glad I wasn't in the car.

As I've said before, heavy snow with traffic sucks. But heavy snow with no traffic (and a set of good tires) is actually pretty fun. I don't mind sliding around if there's no one else to deal with.

When is the snow supposed to start today and why does it always seem to occur during commute time?

They seem to have pushed the main event back a bit to closer to 7.

Tuesday was bad as that lake effect band of snow hit right at 5. Inch if snow in Robinson... Nothing south of Bridgeville.
Wednesday was just bad in general. No heavy snow but everyone panicked.
Today a semi shut down 70 at Bentleyville so I had to detour... +20 minutes and a toll on 43.
When's that airport connector to 43 coming? I'd never use it except in these scenarios.
