I use Google Maps every day.
Saved me today. I woke up and opened my tablet. "There are multiple crashes on 8 South, 28 South." The backup was over an hour.

Jetted over to 279 and snuck into town in under 25 minutes.

Today was one of those days that even Google Maps couldn't save me. My estimated time from work was 55 minutes....ended up being 1:45. That said, there are times when my drive to work is 5-10 minutes shorter, so it's a trade off.

I was going to PM you about your commute, but figured I’d get a bounce back.

My commute the past 3 days have actually been a little hectic. But I take the turnpike, so all those holiday travelers are clogging up the lanes. Monday night, the traffic was backed up from the Butler Valley exit toll booth all the way up Route 8 N to Lowe's.

Today was a new record since I've started working at my new job. 30 minutes flat today, for a 29 mile commute. Beautiful. Next week should be nice too, but I'm sure one or two of the days will be ruined by someone getting in a single car accident on the bypass.

Wow. Major back-ups on the Parkway East inbound @ Saline St. looks to be a crash blocking the lanes. Working to get more details.

Set a new record for my commute this morning. 29 miles, 27 minutes, average speed 63 mph. I go through six miles of single lane road, as well as a half dozen stoplights, so I'm proud of that one

Something must've happened in the Blvd if the Allies. Backed up to the Veterans split.

Would have been OK had Duquesne Light not decided they needed to do utility work at the corner of Center and whatever alright in front of PPG. Took up two lanes of traffic. Made it difficult to go anywhere.

Like 745. Apparently a UPS truck broke down in the right lane

Heads up downtowners:

AG Sessions is making an announcement of in federal courthouse of
increased funding for the Pittsburgh region to combat the opioid crisis - the
announcement is closed to the public and is scheduled for 3pm, which is a
normal commuting time. At the present time,
Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and FPS officers will be stationed outside the
courthouse and will monitor the situation, if the need arises Grant Street
maybe close but currently there is no information to indicate the intent of
the protest or the number of protesters.

Usually for protests people get a permit and they shut down Grant. Looks like this is going to be 'impromptu' if anything.

28 was inexplicably **** this morning. 1A was backed up all the way past my exit (5) so it was a crawl the whole way down. Bane must've blown up one of the stadiums over night.

Lowries Run Road is deteriorating this winter at an alarming rate. The came along and chopped down a bunch of trees on the hillside above the road, and I think it's actually increased the amount of runoff going onto the road, which is increasing the number of potholes. There was a couple inches of flooding on the road when I drove home last night, which I've never seen before even in the heaviest of rains.

The potholes seem to be worse than ever this year. Liberty Avenue is a slalom course.

And it's exacerbated by them fixing the potholes. Asphalt bits are immediately strewn across the road the day after the pothole is filled. Now you have a pothole and marble sized pieces of road everywhere.

Big time. It was ponded today, too.
