Eli is not a HoF QB, but there's no denying that he was part of some moments that will be on display in the Hall. Like, "Here is a photo of Peyton Manning winning his second championship, while his brother, Eli (also an NFL Quarterback) looks on in stunned amazement."

Roethlisberger is a HOFer?
totes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N ... ns_leaders

I think the only interesting current era "is he a HOF QB" debate is going to be around Eli.
Wins, huh...? I'll pass on that being a primary factor...it's a factor, but I'm not going to sort by one category and assume everything is kosher...

Also, Eli Manning at a glance...

2x Super Bowl MVP (not to mention 2x Super Bowl winner which this particular championship, the easiest won to get to in terms of games played, carries a significantly larger weight than all other championships combined in other major sports from a historical ranking perspective among casual fans...)
4x Pro Bowl

Top-8 pass yds: 4, 5, 5, 6, 6
Top-8 pass TDs: 2, 4, 4, 4, 6, 8
Top-8 comp%: -
Top-8 rating: 7
Top-8 int%: 7

Pts allow/game regular season*: 22.57
Pts allow/game playoffs: 19

Roethlisberger at a glance...

2004 OROY
5x Pro Bowl
1x Second-Team All-Pro (2014, PFF)

Top-8 pass yds: 1, 7, 8
Top-8 pass TDs: 3, 6, 7, 7
Top-8 comp%: 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7
Top-8 rating: 2, 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 7
Top-8 int%: 2, 4, 4

Pts allow game regular season: 18.26
Pts allow game playoffs: 21.68

* - Injury to player not included, just a sample of time in which his career spanned...

I'm not sayin' nothing about either of them, just putting out some information...

QB rating formula is definitely worth a look...seems almost random how that formula was put together...

Can you add the times eli has led the league in ints? At least 2 if not 3.

Brett Favre led the League in INTs three times, too.

BRoeth and Pey Pey only led in INTs once each.

(Ben=Pey) > (Eli=Favruh)

So math.

Did he ever have a 2:3 td to int ratio?

Raw numbers: he led the league 3 times, also has a 2nd place, and two 4th place finishes to boot...he's thrown 55 more than Ben (!) and they've played in the league for the same number of seasons...Manning is soon to catch Drew Brees, who has played in the league two more years than him...

Ben led the league in INTs once, for the record, plus a 3rd and 4th place finish...

Given those figures and their comp% finishes, it's clear that Ben took care of the ball way better...

I thought when Ben won the second one, it was all but guaranteed he would have a HoF career. Now that he's breaking team records and climbing the NFL list. I think he's first ballot. If he wins a third, he's 100% a first ballot guy.

If he loses the game to Aaron Rodgers in overtime, is he <100% a first ballot guy...? Like if Roswell misses a field goal in OT of the Super Bowl, does that make Ben a worse QB?

It omits components -- like fumbles and rushing yards -- that would be valuable, and it doesn't adjust for the era, but its a decent tool that you can use since its been in place for 50 years to do a rough comparison. Focusing on pure yardage in this day and age is dumb, particularly when its without considering Eli's inaccuracy (comp %) and love of turnovers (INTs).

To a hall of fame voter, that 100% makes someone a worse qb.

I think BRoeth already has a HoF resume, and that will only be bolstered if he gets to a fourth Superb Owl. Getting in will just be a matter of time.
I now wish that they actually played for the "Superb Owl". Just imagine: Instead of the stupid silver football on a pole, league officials wheel out a 6 foot tall, bronze owl statue. Could be perched. Could be in flight. Could have prey buried within its talons. Doesn't matter. The Superb Owl would be the most legendary trophy in all of sports.

Also, someone said that they would think the voters would be smarter than they are, if that was the case, Aikman wouldn't have made first-ballot - but his 3 SBs totally helped usher him in.
On pure stats alone, Aikman’s resume isn’t all that great. From 1992 through 1996, Aikman had a record of 56-19. In his seven other seasons, his record was 38-52. He also finished with a weak touchdown to interception ratio of 165 and 141 and it isn’t as if teams weren’t passing in the 1990s. As for where he ranks on the all-time passing list, he’s 34th right now and has already been passed by Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan.

Remember how they dropped the Roman numeral designation last year, because L is for Losers?
