Where Did You Go to High School?

Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School, '91 -- Hollidaysburg, PA
Here I thought you an Shad grew up on the tough streets of Altoona. Turns out you're just a white boy from the burbs.
As opposed to a white boy from the booming metroplex of Conrailville?

I've said before but, aside from the two months of 8th grade when we lived in Ft Lauderdale, I didn't share a classroom with an African American until my junior year of HS. Sisters, one older than me and one younger. Both hot. Both very good at volleyball. So fun.

EDIT: I was born in Altoona (my childhood home is currently the driveway to the employee parking lot on 8th Ave for what used to be called Mercy Hospital), and lived there the first 6 or 7 years of my life.

Yes, thank you so much for moving to the East End Troy, however did those neighborhoods survive before rich kids from Bethel moved in.

Admittedly, Lawrenceville was trending awful in the mid-late 90s, but you're way wrong about Bloomfield.

I'm not sure how Bethel got a reputation as a rich place. Way more blue collar than USC or Mt. Lebo.

According to tifipedia, Bethel median family income is ~65K, compared to 55K statewide. Mt. Lebo was 79K and USC 106K.

I went to bethel park, 99.5% white.
The 0.5% that were black lived on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th street near Washington Junction (I've heard it called the Mine 3 area). It was walking distance from where I grew up, so I'd hang out there and kids would come to my house to play hoops. I think we even played a little street hockey.
Troy, Columbia and I went to the same elementary school (Lincoln) and it was 100% white when I was there. At Independence, the few black students there were from Coverdale or Mine No. 8 (aka "the patch") which was a mine where blacks worked. There's another patch off Horning Road at the Bethel/Baldwin border (mine no 4) but that was all white.

Most of the company town homes still exist at mine 4:

We graduated 230something. 98% white. I think we had 1 black kid and 2 Asians. One white kid now has dreadlocks, if that counts for anything. ;)

Have you ever listened to Tom Segura's white girls with cornrows skit? If not, find it. Might be hard to find just it because it's the title of that CD, but it's hilarious.

For some reason I'm imagining everyone sitting in hockey pads, and then standing up and saying their school name and city. DUCKS FLY TOGETHER!

My wife's sister has/had cornrows.
