Where Did You Go to High School?

-half a year at South Park H.S. in South Park, PA
-rest of it at Downingtown H.S. (before there was an East/West cause I'm old) in Downingtown, PA.
DHS class of 1991 here

I went to bethel park, 99.5% white.
The 0.5% that were black lived on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th street near Washington Junction (I've heard it called the Mine 3 area). It was walking distance from where I grew up, so I'd hang out there and kids would come to my house to play hoops. I think we even played a little street hockey.

I remember there being one black kid in all of my 4 years at BPHS that wasn't from that area. He was the only one that didn't play on the basketball or football team.

All through my class there was one black kid, at random points there were "city" kids that seemed to come and go.

Yeah, it was OK. I graduated in '94 and I'm glad I went there and all, learned a lot, yadda yadda yadda. But if I had to go back and do it all again, I'd have saved the money and went to McDowell.

Same thing with college. I went to W&J, had a great time, met friends I still keep in touch with and it's ultimately how I ended up and stayed in the Pittsburgh area. Doing it all again though, I would have saved myself the money and went to Pitt.

I went to Duquesne and walked through the hill district to Oakland one time... that counts more than 7 years in Etna.

Did you go to CC? So you probably knew lots of kids from Point Breeze, Sq. Hill and Shadyside right?
