We have threads for a lot of other art forms, but not theater.

I used to have an annual subscription to the Walnut Street Theater in Philly and saw a few shows then and I've seen others on Broadway or in other theaters in Philly.

I saw Andy Gibb in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat when I was in high school.

I saw Yul Brynner in The King and I was in high school.

I've seen Les Miserables 7 times. Twice on Broadway, the others in Philly.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, White Christmas, Miss Saigon, Phantom (2X), Le Cage Aux Folles and Hairspray are others that come to mind.

I would like to see The Book of Mormon, but finances are a little tight right now.

I'm sure more will come to me later.

Any other theater fans out there? (I know there are a few Les Mis fans.)

My wife grew up on Broadway (in Poughkeepsie, on the Metro North line). I've seen Mamma Mia, Book of Mormon, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on Broadway. Definitely enjoyed myself at all three.

On a side note, if you can ever visit the halal stands by the Hilton (they wear the shirts, the Halal Guys) by God do it. The best food stands in the world IMO.

I saw Mama Mia at the Wintergarden back in the day. It was an affront to every sense and is the sole reason why I am hock-ptui to popular theater these days. I know that there are shows out there that I'm sure I'd like, but MM sickened me to the core.

I've seen Les Miserables, Phantom, Wicked, joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat and Beauty and the Beast.

None of them came close to Les Miserables. I'm not sure if anything does? While I like a lot of the others music from above, nothing was as emotional and awe inspiring as LM for me.

I've seen Cats, South Pacific, Book of Mormon. I had no idea what was going on in Cats or what a jellical cat is. Book of Mormon was hilarious.

Rent looks too depressing, not that Les Miz was a rollicking songfest, that discourages me from seeing it.

I'm a huge Les Miz fan; I think I own like five cast recordings of the show. Will always go see when it's in town.

'The Book of Mormon' is straight up the funniest piece of entertainment I've ever seen. Seen it twice now, and I still can't figure out how the actors can remain in character. It's funny in ways that you can't help laughing at. It's not overly clever, or insightful; it's just honest. And holy crap...... love it.

What I also like about it is the LDS folks have sort of embraced it. They actually buy advertising in the Playbills for the show ("The book is always better"), and the first time I saw it the very next show that going to be in residence at the Pantages Theaters was..... Donnie & Marie Osmond. You just can't write that.

The first time I saw was in college, and I completely lost it like four times in the show.

There are few things more manly than two hockey players sitting in a theater watching Les Miz and crying when your favorite character dies.

Which one got you the most?

Fantine giving over Cosette to JVJ's keeping gets me.

My wife loves broadwsy shows, saw Phantom with her a couple months ago. I actually liked it. Book if Mormon coming back to Charlotte next year and definitely going.

We were just talking about this at Easter today. My nephew recently saw Phantom as his first show and really enjoyed it.

We saw You Cant Take it With You on Broadway in February and it was tremondous. James Earl Jones and "agent gad" from the Americans were in it.

We picked up tickets to the Book of Mormon when it comes to the Kennedy Center here in DC. Definitely excited about it.

On Broadway I've seen Chicago and Phantom of the Opera. Thought both were excellent. My wife and I went to see Pittsburgh Musical Theater's production of Les Miserables last year and the Byham and thought they did a really good job.

I managed to see Rent on Broadway in the Niederlander theater back in the early 2000's. Great show, not really depressing, I found it to be uplifting in a way.

Shortly after that, I saw The Producers with the second cast after the first run with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane. The one guy from Wings played the Broderick character. Also very good.

Had tickets for Urinetown, with TV's Ed and Flash's Harrison Wells in the lead, but the plane broke and I missed the show. :(

I was so ho-hum about seeing those shows (and a few others in that time frame that I don't remember the names), like it was going to happen all the time. The last show (Urinetown) was in 2002. Got married, went back to school, had kids, can't get back to NYC. Such is life. Enjoy it while you can.

Do you have a more regional theater?

I see most shows in Philly since NYC is a hassle.

Yeah, there are theater productions in Charlotte and Charleston's Spoleto Festival is a lot of fun. But Broadway, man. Broadway!

Book of Mormon is so expensive. I've been wanting to go to a show but not for $150.

I'd suggest checking out American falls at the new barebones theater. It's in Braddock and the "theater" is attached to Sousa's new restaurant (which isn't open yet). Theater is in quotes because the space is still pretty raw, but makes for a cool experience.
