Just finished Matthew Reilly's Two Lost Mountains. That Jack West Jr. series is so good.

I'm about 30 pages into Adrift by Steven Callahan. Log/journal/story about his adventure adrift at sea in a 21 footer for 76 days. Phenomenally written so far. Perfect beach book.

It doesn't seem like Amazon made any announcement about it, but the number of titles one can have checked out under the Kindle Unlimited service appears to have increased from 10 to 20.

Read Living with the Dead. Rock skully who "managed" the dead for the first 20 years or so has some very interesting and funny stories. The amount of drugs taken in this book made my body hurt just reading about it, damn shame when the heroin kicked into their lives.

My mom was a true hippie and followed them on your for a couple years. She lived at the corner of Height/Ashbury during the summer of 1968. She even went to some of the smaller house parties they used to play. I'd be very interested in that book.

A good chunk of it and the most interesting stories all came from the 60s and the Haight scene with the acid tests. It was very interesting reading about how they pretty much dumped all their money into music tech and what came out of it that really changed the music scene forever. I picked this book for the stories, I think I'll read another about them that details the music a little more. Highly recommend checking this out though. I think I got a used copy on Amazon for $3.

Absolutely. They are rarely given the credit for what they did to music tech that they deserve. Wall of sound anyone?

And I do have some.of my mom's hippie stories but she liked to remind me that it was the 60s and she spent very little of that time sober lol.

She went to Woodstock. She gave a hitchiker a ride from NY to Florida. She was at the Rolling Stones/Hells Angels incident show. She saw Boston when they still used a real pipe organ on stage. She could roll a joint with one hand.

I've read the first 12. Great series, to be honest I got busy with life and ran out of steam but they are really fun.

I've read all of them repeatedly. I bought Eye of the World as a brand-new book when it first came out in 1990. I would have been a high-school freshman at the time. I recognized the name of the author from his prior work writing Conan the Barbarian novels; I read a ton of Conan books when I was in junior high. I have every Wheel of Time book in print, as well as the companion books. There have been three book series in my life where I'd buy a new 900+ page book on release day, take it home, a read it all in one sitting: Harry Potter, Game of Thrones (*sigh*), and Wheel of Time.

I don't know whether I'll watch the Amazon show or not. I have a lot of time invested in this series and have read each book multiple times. I doubt I could watch the show without nitpicking everything. I certainly would recommend the books. Jordan could be a little verbose at times, but the characters and world-building is solid. It's a shame that Jordan passed away before finishing, but he gave all of his notes and outlines to Brandon Sanderson before he died, and I thought Sanderson did a great job with the last three books.

I don’t think I’ll ever have time to read the books and am interested in the Amazon series because of that… but I don’t see any way the adaptation of a 14 book series that spans almost 12,000 pages (19+ days of audiobook time) ends well. It’s either going to get hacked to pieces or have an unfulfilling early end.

Read about 100 pages of Eye of the world. I can tell I'm really going to enjoy this. Robert Jordan's writing reminds me a lot of Dan Simmons, I'm easily transported into their world, this will be fun.

I'm halfway through the first book and this is amazing, cant believe I didn't pick up on these earlier. Is the entire series awesome?

I finally burned through my backlog of books and started The Expanse novels. Good stuff so far.
