The Plot Against America was a fun read.

I own the "special" German edition.

hmmmm...interesting.

Yes. British publisher. As far as I can tell, the depiction of a swastika would not be unlawful in this scenario.

I'm happy that they did this, since he has said so many times he wanted it. We are blessed with so many of his novels, I don't need his unfinished work.Terry Pratchett's unfinished novels destroyed by steamroller

Hmmm...maybe it is time to get into the Discworld series.

I, for one, am thankful that Max Brod did not follow Kafka's wishes. Selfish, I know.

I've thought about this many times and every time look where to start I get confused and end up doing more reading about the different paths and order than it would just to read them all from start to finish.Hmmm...maybe it is time to get into the Discworld series.

Picked up Use of Force, his new one. Looks like all his books are the Harvath character. Almost done, it's pretty similar to the previous one. I'll probably try a couple of the early ones to see if there's something different.Just finished it. Enjoyable. Moved very quickly, though possibly too quickly in spots twss, but will check out others by him. Found the Harvath character intriguing to the point where I want to learn more about him. He's a king of the Airport spy novel. Great stuff.
Edit: Finished it. Pretty lame ending.

finished a few books:
Ararat by Christopher Golden. this was pretty cool. Search for Noahs Ark meets The Thing.
Slade House by David Mitchel I very much enjoyedit, what a great haunting house book. He's a great writer and I think it may finally get me to read Cloud Atlas and Bone Clocks.
In Calabria by Peter S. Beagle. I've never read The Last Unicorn before, but remember liking the animated movie. I wasn't sure where this was going in the first 20 or 30 pages, but then it payed off big time by the end. It's like A History of Violence with Unicorns. I loved it, it was very moving!

Earth is long since dead. On a colony planet, a band of men has gained control of technology, made themselves immortal, and now rule their world as the gods of the Hindu pantheon. Only one dares oppose them: he who was once Siddhartha and is now Mahasamatman. Binder of Demons, Lord of Light.

As a big fan who has read all of the Discworld books, I'd recommend just reading them in the order they were written. The repeat groups of characters (e.g., Rincewind/the wizards , the City Guards, Granny Weatherwax/the witches, Death (WHO ALWAYS SPEAKS IN CAPITAL LETTERS)) do overlap at a few points, and there is a fairly consistent progress in time throughout all of the books, so I think it's better to read them as they were written.SameI've thought about this many times and every time look where to start I get confused and end up doing more reading about the different paths and order than it would just to read them all from start to finish.Hmmm...maybe it is time to get into the Discworld series.

Well, a lot of great artists happen to be terrible human beings.

Salman Rushdie's new novel The Golden House is very good and oddly comforting. I have a feeling he's not impressed with the Donald.

I am just wrapping up The Colour of Magic. If you go on Terry Pratchett's website, it gives you a recommended reading order and that is the first. Wow...how did I miss this series for so long? The writing is brilliantly funny, sharp, and witty. The characters are rich, and horrifying yet humorous. I'll definitely be reading this whole series at some point.
