Been meaning to mention this for a while but Descent Into Darkness is a very good horror short story collection. I bought it back in October but have just gotten around to reading it with my time off. Little heavy on zombie stuff but nobody is perfect. ;)

Reading Speaks the Nightbird, a murder mystery in 1700 Charleston dealing with a Witch by Robert McCammon. This guy can write. I wish I was a faster reader as all his books appear to be pretty lengthy. I thought I was reading his post apocalyptic thriller (Swan Song) when I started, but couldn't put the book down after the first page. Looking forward to more of his work.

And Robert de Niro has one of the best scenes. It's got a killer cast.

Hit 100 books last year :thumb: Thank goodness for libraries or I'd have even less money. Although, the next three books I want to read are not in the public library

If anyone wants to read a truly beautiful fantasy series, try Katherine Arden's Winternight Triology. Book 1 and 2 are out, and book 3 comes out in August. It is captivating and not in the "page turner" constant cliff-hanger way.

And Gaiman wrote the movie script different from the books, knowing what would work on screen and what wouldn't.

So you’re one of those socialist public library users?

Did you ever get around to reading anything from Steve Erickson?

I absolutely love the public library, and we donate yearly. It's a wonderful resource. Luckily, the Chester County Library is really nice with a huge selection.

Ha, as it happens, I bought Zeroville a few weeks (months?) ago, but didn't get around to it yet. Soon.

Reading Underground Railroad. A bit of a bore, sadly. Also reading Henry Miller's Colossus of Maroussi. Much better.

I thought the South Carolina stuff was very interesting, mostly because I had no knowledge of that part of history. The slave catcher villain was good too.

But yeah, I didn’t care that much for it. I am reading a gentleman in Moscow right now. It’s entertaining. The main character could be out of a Wilde play

I just finished Troublemakers: Silicon Valley's Coming of Age, and can't recommend it highly enough. It is a history of 6-7 people from 1967-1983 that were responsible for most of the technology we use on a daily basis: the internet, smartphones, video games, and so on. Interesting chapters of recombinant DNA and the efforts of a Stanford employee to patent and license the technology out so the creators (and Stanford) could make money on inventions funded by federal grants and tax dollars.

Steve Jobs is in it, but isn't a focus of the book - another Apple employee is the focus of the Apple chapter (Mike Markkula).

The three of us that like Halt and Catch Fire ( @dodint @Freddy Rumsen and there was one more person...) would probably really like it.
