Death is good stuff.

I feel like I've posted this before... but the riff at 1:04... I mean if you can't bang your head to that I don't know. The whole song is just full of killer riffs.

Not that there's any replacement for Hanneman, because there's not, but I really like Gary Holt. He's done a solid job filling in.

I liked Holt and I liked Bostaph as well. Bostaph replacing Lombardi is probably the bigger ask given that he's still alive and is so revered.

I'd agree with that, but it still pisses me off that King **** up so badly that Lombardi is no longer there. He's a metal god as far as I'm concerned.

He's absolutely a metal god. In general, "Kerry King" is enough of a statement to explain the issues Slayer had.

Lombardo also seems like one of the most down to earth people in metal too. Just a dude that you would love to kick back and have a beer with.

Indeed. Araya always seemed like a normal dude as well. Hanneman was certainly an odd bird and King just seems like a dickbag.

That style of drumming does not fit that song at all. People **** on Lars all the time, and I get it, but his drumming fits Metallica. There is no need for all of those fills and such in MOP. Let the song breathe.

I read some article on Hanneman recently that when he was not touring or doing stuff with Slayer he just wanted to be completely away from that part of his life and just kick back. I get it. He also seemed to love WW2/Nazi stuff as well (not in a bad way).

Agreed. That does not sound good at all. Way too busy.

Like that drumming works in Meshuggah. Meshuggah writes chuggy, chaotic, all over the place stuff. It doesn't work on a thrash song.

And to further your point, over the years I've found ripping on Lars' drumming is like ripping on Araya's bass playing. Dudes are doing exactly what their bands need them to do to help create the sound that has sold millions upon millions of albums. Not everyone needs to be Dave Portnoy or Cliff Burton or Dave Lombardo or Steve Harris.

Yep. I think Lars knows as a drummer he's not the most technical or even the cleanest. With that said he (along with James) know how to put together and construct songs better than almost any duo in metal history. He has a great sense of what sounds good and what needs to go where and his drumming fits what Metallica does. Without Lars Metallica isn't considered one of the best heavy metal bands of all time and don't go on to achieve the success they do IMO.

This is 1000% accurate.

Lombardo's probably my favorite drummer. You can tell his influence by comparing albums like Hell Awaits and Seasons to Diabolus.

1:44 for the best part.

I probably should have prefaced that with there being a video prior of the same guy playing Bleed in the style of Lars.

What's bad is I've watched that video so many times that I know exactly what part you're talking about.

I'd love to go to Wacken once in my lifetime. I know I wouldn't like every band, but it would be a hell of a time.

Ditto. Some of my favorite live performances on YouTube are from Wacken.

Nu-Metal from Greece circa 2015. Pretty good.
