If they were coming to anywhere reasonably close, I would. Cleveland is about as far as I'm willing to travel though and the closest they are getting is NYC iirc.

Brooklyn or Philly is where I'm looking at because my brother lives in Delaware. They definitely did a shitty job coming anywhere close.

I've seen them three times. The first time I saw them was on that Somewhere Back In Time tour, which was basically set up as a greatest hits thing, so that show was great. They put on a killer (swidt) show, but they just don't play as many hits as a band with their provenance should be doing.Any of yinz jagoffs checking out Maiden on their current tour?

That's part of my concern since this is billed as The Book of Souls tour. I don't want to hear The Book of Souls. Give me 90% greatest hits or give me death.but they just don't play as many hits as a band with their provenance should be doing.Any of yinz jagoffs checking out Maiden on their current tour?

It's one of Mrs Tif's biggest pet peeves. It is not cheap to go out and a major arena show, if I'm throwing down the dollars, I want to see you play the songs that made me want to go see you live in the first place.
This was the setlist the last time I saw them (first half of the Book of Souls tour)
If Eternity Should Fail
Speed of Light
Children of the Damned
Tears of a Clown
The Red and the Black
The Trooper
Powerslave
Death or Glory
The Book of Souls
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden
Encore:
The Number of the Beast
Blood Brothers
Wasted Years
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
Honestly, I don't know like half of those songs.

8 songs on that list that I care about. I turn 31 this year. At roughly $125 for a ticket I don't want half of the set list to be younger than me.

When maiden tours for albums, they tend to play a lot of songs off of them, then mix in various hits. Surprised to see Blood Brothers (especially in the encore?!) and Children of the Damned.
I've seen em 5 times before though, and I reallllly like this album (seriously, it's probably my favorite since Seventh Son), so I'd be fairly happy with that set list.
Best show hands down was this one: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/iron-maid ... 64c8d.html
That was the Ed Hunter/reunion tour... simply amazing.

They're still an active creative outfit, rather than a cover band of themselves.
Nothing wrong with that.

Going to the show in Philly. I'll have to check out this new album. I did not like The Final Frontier at all and have been hesitant to check out The Book of Souls.

I can't guarantee that you'll like it, but it is way better than that. Lots of long songs though, so if you're not into them, you might really hate it. FWIW, I like all the songs off of it they are playing. Of course, I basically like the entire album, so...Going to the show in Philly. I'll have to check out this new album. What would have REALLY sucked is the Matter of Life and Death tour where they literally opened by playing the entire album... and that is my least favorite Maiden album.

It would be one thing if their new material could hold a candle to their stuff from the 80s. It's just not good stuff, but that's 75% of their show now. They're still an active creative outfit, rather than a cover band of themselves.

Iron Maiden concert coming up next weekend in Philadelphia. Pretty excited, though I am disappointed that Hallowed be thy Name has been removed from the setlist due to a copyright dispute. Song has been out for 35 years and when I finally decide to go is when they're taken to court over it. Booooo!

A copyright dispute wouldn't 'prevent' the band from performing the song. Sorting all that stuff takes place on the back end. This is about not generating any new royalties for songwriters by performing the song live and/or including it on a live recording. It's basically two fingers up to the guy suing Harris & Murray.

If any of you are into Dimmu Borgir, they just released a 2-DVD boxed set of live performances (Oslo and Wacken, both with choirs and orchestras), the latter quickly becoming one of my favorite live albums of all time.

Maiden was fantastic. Good set list (though no HBTN still saddens me) and they just kicked ass all night. So happy I finally got to see them. Really hoping for a greatest hits tour in the near future.
Ghost was excellent as well. Great opening performance.
