Yeah, the more I read about King, the less and less I like the guy (which is why I try not to read about him much.) How in the **** would he continue Slayer without Tom? It's not like his voice is one that is easily replaceable, even in the condition that it is in right now. The better question is could he legally do it?

I knew there was talk from Tom about not wanting to tour much but I think that's been going on for years, possibly even going back as far when he had his back(?) surgery. But the stuff about Tom and Kerry not seeing eye to eye? I mean I could see it, but I've never seen anything reported about it.
(Tom) just wants to be home on his ranch singing country songs to his cows.
I thought there was a joke that I was missing out, but...
He and his wife run a family ranch that includes 60+ head of cattle among other ranch animals. Araya reports that he sings country songs to help keep his "singing chops up."

I'm glad I got to see Slayber back with Lombardo and Hanneman. I would still go see a farewell tour as I'm sure they are still great live.

and finally Hatebreed is coming to Mr. Smalls in March. Pumped to see them. Machine Head comes to stage ae next month but the tracks they have put out from their album that drops this week have been... not very good at all.

I do wonder if that is part of this. Last year there was like four consecutive months with articles regarding Tom and Kerry trying to hammer out a resolution regarding the business side of things. Jeff died and there was really no contract regarding ownership of the band and band name. Might have ended up as simple as there being two original members remaining and without both of them being involved the band can no longer exist.

Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth and Testament will be the supporting acts on the farewell tour.

I saw something on wiki that said they are probably doing a Clash Of The Titans tour in 2018 or 2019, but the lineup was supposed to be Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, and Sepultura.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clash_of_ ... ans_(tour)

That news was also reported back in early December, so it may have changed since.

That is quite a lineup. I hope they do smaller venues would be cool to see in that environment. I mean I don't blame them if they want to do big arena shows, but I'd prefer a smaller venue.

I might be going to that. I like the Acacia Strain and they're playing that show.

For the lineup they are having and it being their last tour... I don't mind that price at all.

Machine Head played 6 songs and called it a night. Flynn was sick and was having a tough time after the first 3 songs or so. Their other setlists from this tour were around 24 songs.

They were very contrite and promised to be back to make it up. Disappointed, but supportive crowd.

Would Metallica had become so cheesy, if Cliff had lived to this day?

I think not.

Cliff was the driving force behind lots of their more melodic stuff. I think he would have liked the Load albums alot. Hard to say and the guy was a helluva bass player. Wish he was still here.

I can't play any instruments, but I wish that I could. The coordination/dexterity required boggles my mind.

I would love to see a Metallica show and have them not play Enter Sandman. It will never happen. They have to play it. That along with One and Master of Puppets will never leave the set list, but they have so many better songs then Enter Sandman. It's not a bad song at all, but yeah.

Robert better than Jason? From a technical standpoint I think Rob is a bit better than Jason as a bass player. I think Jason fit the band better overall during his time there. Rob has been in the band now like almost 15 years which is crazy. Neither are Cliff by any means though. I think replacing a bass player is probably the easiest of any member for them to replace though. If either James or Lars would quit/die or whatever.. the band would be done. Kirk could be replaced too pretty easily probably in the grand scheme of things.

I think this past tour though they have been really tight live overall.

A better band than when they had Cliff? No.

A better band than when they had Jason? No.

IMO, they lost their edge after they got big with MoP.

Justice was a technical experiment (that I very much enjoyed) and they had a couple more OK songs after, but the true hard, hungry sound was long gone.

I don't care how good of a bass player Rob is, he doesn't provide this:
