I don't care how good of a bass player Rob is, he doesn't provide this:

Jason had such energy, but the rest of them are just kinda there. That's about when I tuned out...

That's what I was referring to when I said Jason was a better fit then Rob in general even if he isn't technically as good on the bass.

Jason left for very good reasons. James back in the day was a huge dadhole and control freak as was Lars. I wish he never left but Rob has filled in just fine.

AJFA was their last relevant album; putting out a record, which largely suppressed Kirk’s solos was the death knell. Like The Rolling Stones, they’re now a novelty act.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole album, but the first 2 tracks off the new Judas Priest album are \m/

I love Death Magnetic. It's not exactly the old band, but it's hard, and the guitar shifts are back to being good. "All Nightmare Long" is pure adrenaline.

The album is good, but the production is sooooooo bad. Like not St Anger trash can bad, but it's just mangled sonically and nothing really sounds the way it should. Alot of albums are like this today though.

Nearly every producer I've seen to comment publicly has said something along the lines of "I wouldn't allow my name to be attached to Death Magnetic if that's how the band wanted it to sound."

That said, I'm with Kaiser. Fundamentally, I think it's a really good record.

Not much better than putting a crowd killer on his ass, then Crosbying him to the ground. Also hatebreed is the monster energy drink of metal bands.

After spending two weeks going through the theatrics of introducing their "new" lead singer:

Ghost released a new song today:

Ghost kicked off their new tour on Friday and it looks like a great time. Expanded stage show, 5 Ghouls and 2 Ghulehs, and the songs from the new album are pretty awesome, with Dance Macabre as a definite standout.

New Parkway Drive is very good. I wasn't a fan until Ire. There are a few different sub-genres from track to track, but this is a solid album from front to back.

I like the 80's vibe of Danse Macabre. I didn't like Ghost at first because I thought they were "hipster" metal, but I don't think they're trying to be something they're not. My preconceptions got in the way.

The pair was eventually found at the Wacken Open Air festival at around 3 a.m. local time. The four-day event is said to be the world’s largest heavy metal festival. Police said the two were “disoriented and dazed,” according to Deutsche Welle.

All Nightmare Long is one of my favorite Metallica songs; it's pretty epic in a literal sense.

I saw a Youtube video once of what Smells Like Teen Spirit would sound like if it were made today, and they made the song louder, which drowned out all the individual chords. It wasn't a huge difference, but definitely noticeable. I think a lot of bands are trying to sound "louder" by mixing the sound in such a way to create an artificial sense of intensity. Modern Metallica fits the bill on this.

Fight FiIre with Fire is already insanely fast on the album, and I think they are playing it about 30% faster here... incredible. Cocaine must have been amazing in the 80's.

Awesome as Ozzy was.. he had to follow that every night on tour. Sucked to be him haha.

and now 32 years later the same song...pretty damn good. Not the same youth they were in their 20's, but it's a pretty good rendition.
