I'm behind on their stuff and had no idea that she is no longer the lead. That's disappointing, to say the least. Agreed on those two albums; probably my favorites.Source of the post Unfortunately with Lacuna Coil, they have mostly relegated Cristina to singing the chorus of late... she is so much better than the dude singer. I also really haven't cared for any of the more recent albums as a whole. Comalies and Karmacode are both excellent though.

I just find myself never being able to relate and while I like metal that's more melodic, I find myself gravitating towards Darkest Hour and bands like that.

For me, it's Dimmu Borgir and then everyone else (much further away).

Their lates album, they tried to go death metalish at times which really does not suit them... the lead single Delirium is basically Cristina singing Delirium ad naseum during the choruses and the dude singing the verses... this is kind of the formula for their more recent stuff though.I'm behind on their stuff and had no idea that she is no longer the lead. It works sometimes, but at the EOD I want to hear her singing or I can listen to way more interesting bands.

I saw Lacuna Coil with Megadeth at Stage AE a few years back, and it was excellent. Christina came out during Megadeth's set and sang an unreleased duet with Dave.

Does Dave still look extremely constipated while on stage?

Saw a bunch of people freaking out on my Facebook feed because apparently Labyrinth is playing this album at next year's ProgPower festival:
Italian power metal. Listened to the first song... seems pretty good, if you like that style of metal anyway.

Not bad. I like it better than NTP66's Dirty Boogers, or whatever that band is called.

Love the music, just not into the voice. I'm really picky about which growly vocals I like.

I get it, because I'm the same way with other metal bands. They used to have a backup singer named ICS Vortex who did all of the clean vocals, and he was phenomenal. Unfortunately, he had issues, and wound up getting kicked out of the band.

I used to listen to this in the 80s. So much so that I ruined my cassette of Morbid Tales. The little fuzzy thing that held the tape against the head came off. I bought a TDK blank cassette, disassembled it, and repaired my Celtic Frost treasure. It fell apart a year or so later. I'm thinking about getting it on vinyl.
IMO, the riff here is THE GREATEST outside of Tony Iommi.

This is unexpected... apparently Helloween did a reunion show with MIchael Kiske + Kai Hansen joining the rest of the band. This would have been pretty awesome to see.

This dude is going to see Nightwish at Stage AE in March. Listening to Floor Jansen sing Ghost Love Score sealed the deal.

I'm not a hardcore fan, so Throwdown wouldn't usually be on my radar. "Deathless", however, is a great metal album. There isn't a bad song on the record. They've been criticized for ripping off Pantera with "Venom and Tears" and "Deathless", but they do a damn good job of it. There's something for everyone: slow groove, a ballad-type song, a couple of radio-friendly songs, straight groove metal, a little hardcore and doom metal, a mix of clean and screaming vocals, and good riffs.
It's damn near a perfect metal album overall.

The addition of Alex Bent to Trivium seems like a great fit. I'm not a drummer, but he seems to be technically sound, and his style fits Trivium very well. I just hope that the rest of the band doesn't treat him like a session drummer, as they've done with every other drummer they've ever had.

Eh kinda surprising I guess. Jeff is dead, Lombardo hasn't been around for almost five years, Bostaph, Holt, and Kerry are almost 54 and Tom turns 57 in June. Kerry seems like an impossible person to get along with and he and Tom have pretty publically not seen eye to eye for a couple years now. Plus, Tom has been talking about retiring for a couple years. He's a family man who hates the travel of touring and just wants to be home on his ranch singing country songs to his cows.
What's surprising is that Kerry agreed to this as he publically countered Tom's retirement talk by saying he would be going for at least another two albums with or without Tom.
