Lighting definitely has a lot to do with it. My old LEDs were far too blue, so I upgraded to something more adjustable and full spectrum. The big advantage to saltwater is the ability to add bright coral.

We have apparently come to a consensus on the names: Lazlo and Baxter.

The black and white one is Lazlo, and the brown and white one is Baxter.

Adorable. My cat never got fixed because of the covid and I kinda want to let her out to get pregnant again.

Holy ****. It has been so long since I've had kittens, that I completely forgot how expensive it is to feed them 3+ times a day. And these little piglets eat Blue Buffalo.

I now find myself the owner of two of my mother's cats (my brother, who already had a cat, took in the third). This is the first time I've been personally responsible for the care of a pet that isn't a fish. Honey is a small female orange shorthair tabby. Hershey is a huge male shorthair black cat with a little bit of a white bib. He's literally twice Honey's size.

How in the hell do I post a picture?

We were on vacation all last week, so I had my fingers crossed that I didn't come home to an aquarium full of dead fish. Everyone was healthy and a few of the cory cats obviously grew. And the plants went buck wild with growth

In the space of 72 hours at the beginning of last week, Lily Bear became an old dog. She looked and acted like she was no more than 10, but now she's presenting as every last minute of her 16 years.

The thing that buns me out the most is that she has started denning almost constantly.

Our GSP has similar episodes periodically - he is 11. He bounces back after a few days, but I worry sick during that time. Things like slower to get up, doesn't wander as far into the yard, not as willing to jump up on his chair. Little things that may not seem like much of a change, but we notice

Turquoise Rainbows
Boesemani Rainbows
Praecox Rainbows
Cosmic Blue Danio
Congo Tetra
Tiger Barbs
Three Spot Gourami
Clown Pleco (drawf, only gets about 4" long)
Another Tetra species I can't recall at the moment...

I would like to add another Gourami or two, as they're some of my favorite freshwater fish.

Nice. I see the boesemani now. I'm rolling with this:

25 neon tetras
14 silvertip tetras
5 boesemani rainbows
7 emerald green corys
1 bad ass apistogramma macmasteri
1 mystery snail
then some bladder snails that hitchhiked in on some of the amazon swords

Lily update:

We took her to the vet hospital last week because her left shoulder looked physically displaced. We decided it might be good to know if it was a musculoskeletal issue, or if there was something like a tumor causing the problem. Several hours of sitting in the hospital parking lot later, it was confirmed to just be ODS (Old Dog Syndrome) and arthritis, so they sent her home with a Rx for a NSAID med called carprofen. Started her on it immediately, and by dinner the next night she was barely able to get herself around the house, and was literally incapable of producing solid poo; her butt was more of a valve that produced black liquid. We made an appointment with her regular vet, sort of thinking it might be...... anyway, we got there, they examined her, looked at her chart from the hospital..........

She is on a daily dose of Rimadyl to manage arthritis...... Rimadyl is a brand name of carprofen. The hospital Rx basically tripled her daily dose of meds to a toxic level.

If you ever see freshwater nerite snails, give them a shot. They're great at cleaning the tank, and are constantly on the move. Apple snails are useless.

Your tank's a 75, right? What kind of lighting are you using? I assume it's a standard Marineland with the old school flip lids. That's what our 55 is, and I really hate it. You can tell in my photo that it is far too directional.

Damn. Prognosis?
After morning of the second full day on the carprofen, I stopped the medication; things just seemed too obviously causal. And that may have saved her life. It doesn't look like there's any long-term damage to her GI tract of kidneys, but we won't know for a few weeks. She's back to her old dog levels of lethargy, as opposed to old-dog-with-potentially-terminal-illness lethargy, which is comforting.

That said, I got a right bollocking from our vet for our lack of dental care for Lily. Which, we have truly earned; we've not at all been diligent about that.
