Nice. The people that own the Greensburgh Dogtopia are friends with the owner of the dog running company my wife works for. And it's only a few minutes from the house, really good for us.

BaCk In ThE dAy we didn't have those fancy webcams and stuff. It is nice that they have an app so you can book everything without having to call in.

Heck of a pet week last week. Guinea pig scratched his eye something nasty and needed meds. Just when we got the clean bill of health for him the pup's snout swole up like a balloon. Must have been bitten by something to create that reaction. Few hundred dollars later everybody is back to normal.

Roscoe's snout thing was funny. He's never been more well behaved, but he absolutely would not get out of the car at the vet and was attached to my hip the whole time. They didn't have an appointment open, so I looked at him and decided I'd best just hang out with him until they could squeeze him in rather than admit him. Luckily that didn't last long.

I freak out when I have to take my dog to the groomer. He's such a spaz and scared of everything, I'm just sure he's going to attack someone or another dog. They say he's good and enjoys it, but I don't believe them.

My cat Hersey had a tough day yesterday. From his perspective, he was kidnapped, assaulted, molested, and subjected to a host of indignities, all of which he loudly protested. From my perspective, I took him to the vet for a checkup. He's fine.

Oh man shyster, I feel that with my dog. She has to wear a cone because she split her toe nail. She is so mad at us that she rams the cone into our legs in protest and then gives us a look as if we have completely betrayed her. Because she is clingy, she still sits near me, but with her butt to me in protest as well.

And today - 8 wks to the day - we sent the puppies on their way into the world. Nos 1 abd 3 are going to a foster down the street from the lady who runs the org we got Moo from, and No 2 already has an adopter lined up; she'll prolly be in her new forever home by mid-week.

OMG cuteness

They had baby ferrets at the pet store yesterday. They had a sign that said they're babies, they bite and their teeth are sharp, which was good because it was so hard to resist trying to cuddle them.

The kids almost had me adopting a second aussie this weekend. She was absolutely adorable, but at Petland. I said, humor me, what's it cost to adopt her? $4100 (but it comes with a lifetime bag of food). I laughed my way out of there so fast.

Our Aussie-BC we have now was $400. And that's the other thing, I had really planned on our current dog being a rescue but got overruled. Not going to let that happen again.

Just got back from taking my cat to the vet. She is in stage 2 of kidney failure, and now we have to give her shots/liquid infusion to keep her hydrated. Going to be fun.

Ah, that sucks. Subq fluids is a pain in the ass, but it gets easier the more you have to do it. I take it she'll receive fluids nightly? Our last cat was 22 when she passed, and had been getting daily fluids for well over a year.

Need to rewire my brain here, when I see a picture like that of puppies, I think "what a blessing" and that anyone who would harm an animal should face harsher penalties (euthanized).

Twice a week. It does not seem like it is going to be terrible. I took a video of the vet doing the first one.. I hope it is going to be smooth.

How does that work? We've got the insulin thing going pretty well for our critter, but I'm not sure how significantly that differs for hydration.

Pinch the back of the neck, slide the needle in parallel to the skin, and let gravity do the rest. The needle is way bigger than I expected it to be, and I was surprised that our cat didn't fight it as much as I would have expected. Always felt awful for giving her fluids, but it's what she needed to stay comfortable.

@Joegap: Make sure you get rid of any and all air bubbles in the line before you start. Vet probably told you that, but it's worth repeating.

The organization we got our doggo from (and to whom we turned over her pups) regularly posts content on IG that they flag with a sensitive content warning. I can't even deal, I had a hard enough time fostering three puppies for 2 months on a one-time basis; I don't know how professional rescue people who go in a physically remove the at risk pets from dangerous conditions do this.

I always said that if I had been a billionaire, I'd have been Batman for pets.
