This well timed photo from the dog park yesterday won't do anything to convince Tif that my just turned 11 Molly isn't a murder doodle

She actually had a great time, moving a bit slowly this morning.

Just got back from taking my cat to the vet. She is in stage 2 of kidney failure, and now we have to give her shots/liquid infusion to keep her hydrated. Going to be fun.
Ah, that sucks. Subq fluids is a pain in the ass, but it gets easier the more you have to do it. I take it she'll receive fluids nightly? Our last cat was 22 when she passed, and had been getting daily fluids for well over a year.
How does that work? We've got the insulin thing going pretty well for our critter, but I'm not sure how significantly that differs for hydration.
Pinch the back of the neck, slide the needle in parallel to the skin, and let gravity do the rest. The needle is way bigger than I expected it to be, and I was surprised that our cat didn't fight it as much as I would have expected. Always felt awful for giving her fluids, but it's what she needed to stay comfortable.

@Joegap: Make sure you get rid of any and all air bubbles in the line before you start. Vet probably told you that, but it's worth repeating.
Thank you for the advice. Gave her her first dose on Friday night. Cat barely even fought it. I am feeling optimistic for the future

Carrying a 75 pound dog up and down the stairs doesn’t seem like much, but it is.

DNA test results are in for our Moo.

She is 73% pit bull/AmStaf terrier. At 13%, the next biggest chunk of her code is........... chihuahua????? The rest is Mexi-mutt menagerie. She was listed as a pit-boxer mix by the rescue, and clearly that was bulls**t. Either way, she is 100% Moo.

I've been feeding my dogs Hill's Science Diet dry dog food for the past few years. It's now gone up about 30% in price in the last 3 months, to around $80 for a 28 pound bag. A friend has been recommending Annamaet dog food for years. It's not cheap either, but now that Science Diet has jumped so much I'm thinking of making the change. Has anyone used Annamaet? It seems to get solid reviews online, but I'm always wary.

We fed the beagles HSD for the entirety of their time with us. Moo came to us with a bag of Natural Balance, so we've been feeding her that (and various puppy formulae when she was nursing/weaning) and have been happy; she certainly horfs it like a champ. But it looks as if like-for-like NB is actually a bit more expensive than HSD.

We wanted to try NomNom, which is one of those fresh food/refrigerated brands. But it costs more than what we feed ourselves on a daily basis, so that experiment never left the 'thought' phase.

Anyone's puppy get car sick?

Gracie can only last about an hour or so right now before getting sick. We tried waiting a couple hours after feeding her (8 or so) but she still got sick on our way up to visit my aunt in Edinboro.

We did see the AKC recommendation is 12 hours after food, but this could be unrealistic for certain schedules. Are there any other tricks people have used that worked?

Are there any symptoms of anxiety besides car sickness? Like is she agitated, barky/whimpering, unsettled, etc.

She's fine when she's not in a car. Very playful, a little nippy, but can also entertain herself well. Very curious about everything (loves to watch every car and walker pass when we take her outside).

No, I mean when she's in the car. Does she exhibit any of those other symptoms when traveling? Trying to figure out if its an anxiety thing or an actual inner ear issue.

This is somewhat also a pet peeve/deals item but mostly around pets. I hate when stores have loyalty programs that are basically meaningless. We have been PetSmart customers for a long time and we "have a phone number with them" that I was thinking the other day, we have been giving them our phone number for 10 years now and I don't remember ever getting anything out of it. We've just recently become eligible for, like, a $5 off coupon. They are the only store locally that carries the cat's diabetic food, though, so we have to go there (or get online).

Meanwhile, we get the Taste of the Wild pet food we use for both dogs and the cat (she gets 1/2 can DM and a handful of the TOTW kibble) at Pet Supplies Plus. We also "have a phone number" with them and I swear, I am never without a 25% off coupon. Get the $60 28 lb bag of dog food for $45 every time. Pretty good program.

From what my aunt said yesterday when she brought her back down, no. She was fine for an hour, slept for a good bit of it, didn't seem to be phased.

Both my old collie and my current BC/Aussie mix would get car sick. They both got better as they got older, but never really grew out of it.
Never any whimpering, but with the aussie he demands to sit on somebody's lap.

Vet told us to try Bonine, which had spotty effectiveness.
