Got a new puppy last night that was rescued from the side of the road in Kentucky along with 11 others.
Meet Murphy!
Geno checking out his new brother Murphy from above... It won't be long before Murphy is bigger than Geno.

Murphy does not like to poop outside yet. I was outside with him for 15 minutes earlier.. frolicked around...come back in... squat and started to poop. I picked him right back up and took him out to try to associate that with going outside, but we shall see. He's only 8 weeks old so its going to take time.

8 weeks is pretty young, but props. I heart Murphy.
What kind of pooch is Murphy? (And 'awesome', while undoubtedly accurate, is not what I'm looking for here)

The rescue was not sure what he or his litter mates were. There were 15 to start left on the side of the road in Kentucky and 3 died. The other 12 got brought back here before they were sent to a kill shelter.
Lady said she expects to him to be at least 40 to 50 lbs. He gets neutered next week along with 2nd round of shots then 3rd round two weeks after that I think.
I'm thinking part boxer part lab maybe I dunno lol.
His dob is listed as 12/16/17 I think on the papers we signed.
Also murph finally pooped outside.

They told us our guy would be at least 30, maybe closer to 40 pounds. He's 17.

That's pretty young to have the pup altered. There's some research that links early spay/neuter with an increase in risk of canine cruciate ligament injuries (which, I can tell you, are not an inexpensive fix), and even some behavioral issues that can inhibit training.
I'm not advocating any one course or the other, but it might be worth asking your vet about it.

Yeah. That seems incredibly young for a neuter to be done.

Those are the best kind.

It's largely a function of breed size. The bigger the dog, the longer you should hold off. Large breeds like Ridgebacks should be kept intact a year or so; females should not be altered at least until they are physically mature.I thought the rule was six months
Worth noting that this is relatively new thinking, so that's why I suggested discussing it with the vet.

We waited and got our Bernedoodle fixed at 9 months.
There was one instance where I had him at the dog park and a woman brought an-altered female in, so we had to skedaddle. The only drawback being that the longer you wait, the longer it takes the empty sac to recede into a non-visible state.
Recently there was an incredibly awkward scenario at the dog park where a dude had his un-altered puppy there, and there was an older female couple whose dog the puppy was engaging. These ladies were like flipping out about the dog trying to play with their dog. Granted the puppy was being overzealous, but not humping, and the one woman, while near me, kicked at the guy's dog to try and get it away from their dog. Then the guy came over and was like "hey, don't kick my dog", and then they started arguing , and I was just like, "why are coming near me with your uncomfortable conversation".

Murphy has worms . G/F said he threw up this morning and there was a nice worm that came up with it all. Going to the vets this afternoon to get dewormed and looked at. Seems ok otherwise. G/F freaked out. Told her to relax.
