Yeah, in a way that's also why I'm not super keen on the current trend of people freaking out of GMO food.
The hysterics are over the top.

The cat had an upper respiratory tract infection last week. After a few days she started oozing funk out her schnoz, so we took her to the vet. She was prescribed liquid amoxacillin, dosed via syringe directly into her little critter mouth. She was not having that. So after two days of not eating and not getting medicine, I took her back to the vet to see if they could help. Dr did a quick physical exam and said that maybe admitting her would be a good idea.
Later that day, Dr called to say her kidneys weren't kidneying properly, and we were perhaps hours away from crossing the event hoizon with her condition; her blood pH was already dangerously low, so they started her on meds right away. Creatinine (?) in urine is supposed to be below 1, and above 2 is hospital time; hers was so high the machine couldn't produce a value (scale goes to 20).
Four days and many thousands later, she's home and healthy. Except for the random pooping.... which the dog quite enjoys. *sigh*
Pets, man.....
Altho I may be personally defective. When it was clear she was recovering and likely going to be fine, my first thought was "The cat has acid blood.... just like a xenomorph!

My cat, for whatever reason likes to chew on plastic. I learned last night she also likes to eat it. She used her litter box then came out, and began to drag her rear on the carpet which I've never seen her do. So I say something to her, she gets up, and I see about 3 or so inches of what looked like tape...
Put on a cleaning glove and got it removed. Hoping I don't need to take her into the vet later for a scan. She seemed perfectly fine afterwards and this morning.
As tif said, pets, man...

One of our old cats used to like eating plastic bags, as well. Always threw up remnants and never needed to go to the vet for it, but it was always a worry if somebody left something out.

This has not been a good year for my saltwater tank. I went downstairs to get something, and decided to check on the tank as I normally do. My puffer apparently died at some point in the night. Just like my trigger, he appeared to be in good health, so I really have no idea what happened. My Foxface is the lone fish remaining in the tank.

Oh no, that's awful.

Pretty pissed that my dog made it 13 years living in the swamp in NC, backwoods of WI, and then she contracts Lyme Disease in February during her second winter in PA. Get ****, PA.
She's not symptomatic, it was discovered while doing general bloodwork during a checkup. Lame.

One of my pups has Lyme. Keep an eye out for stiffness in her joints.
Pet Thread
Yeah. My dog has had arthritis creeping in so we brought her in, in part, to explore some treatments. We found that her rear knees are very stiff which is what is causing her to slip on stairs. We're trying a Glutamine treatment. Not sure if its related to the Lyme or not. We're going to do a protein urine test as soon as we can get sample.

Mine is 10, but iirc, your girl is smaller, so they may be at the same stage in their lives. Let me know if you stumble on a good maintenance regimen

She's 12 this year. 40lbs. Life expectancy of 13 years so she's elderly (vets opinion, not my assertion).

Dang hope they can treat it alright. I don't know much about it.
Mine just decided to puke all over my leg.

Brought Lilly home from daycare today, and after dinner we discovered she had a puncture wound on the back of her neck. We just started using this facility when we moved back, and this is the third time they've sent her home with a wound that they did not alert us to.
Pet Thread
"She did it herself." -Them, probably.

I would almost rather they said that. At least it would evidence that they observed something.

I feel really lucky with our Dog day care/camp that we send Murphy too. They are all awesome people, they alert us to anything/everything. They seem to all generally love animals and Murphy gets pumped to go there and run around all day. He comes home and he is dead tired and ready to go to sleep. He normally goes twice a week, sometimes 3 days, but it's been great for him to not be locked up on the days I have to go into the office or my wife is not off.

I can't believe it's been a year. I mean it when I say I think about Carlin fairly often and I never met the dog. :\

Took the cockers to the Pet Supplies Plus dog wash yesterday. It was great. Up high so you can bathe them standing up instead of kneeling on the bathroom floor. Towels and air dryers.
Bad part- new experience in a new place and on the way our they were so worked up and nervous that they both crapped all over the store. They had both gone before we went, too. Between the two of them they crapped the body weight of 4 cocker spaniels, I don't know where they had it all hidden. Pretty sure the store has banned them plus my daughter and me.
