If you squeeze his paw, does he pull it back or yelp?
Nope. His one nail area on his paw looks really swollen though so that is why they think it could be something with his foot. He also is constantly licking/biting at that area on his foot. He lets you touch it, he doesn't like it, but he doesn't yelp. He honestly is acting no different... he just runs on 3 legs instead of 4 right now. I just don't want it to get worse that's all.

Hope they can figure out what's wrong. Some dogs show no pain response even when they are miserable. We had one dog like that. She was a tough girl.

No breaks or tears for Murphy. Nothing stuck in his paw. They think he might have just banged it against something. So just give him the course of the anti-inflammatory they gave me yesterday (7 day dosage) and limit his activity for a few days and see how it goes. He is limping less today and putting more weight on it.. so good news I guess. Probably over reacted a bit, but better to be safe than sorry.

Pic came out huge so putting in spoiler, but Murphy is happy he doesn't need surgery or anything.

Does Murph interact with other doggos very much, or had he done so before you noticed the limp? Carlin one time got a nail stuck in another pup's collar at daycare, and it nearly twisted right off her paw. Seriously, when I picked her up that afternoon the thing was sticking out 50% longer than the other nails, and was rotated 90°. Took her right to the vet, and they ended up pulling the thing the whole way off and wrapping her foot up, so she had ClubFoot for a couple days. Took about a month for the new nail to grow back.

He goes to doggie day care/camp twice a week sometimes three days where he basically gets to run around with other dogs all day. I thought it may have happened at camp, but he started limping monday morning, and he hadn't been to camp since the prior Thursday, so I don't think it happened there.

My dog will act mortally wounded and scare the crap out of us for like 5/10 minutes, then go back to running and playing like nothing happened.

Took my dog to the wave pool yesterday for the pooch swim. That is quite an experience, and actually less eventful than you might think. I think people with aggressive dogs had them pretty well under wraps. I'm not sure why, but I definitely imagined that it was going to be less crowded than it was. It was essentially mayhem. I was mostly able to keep an eye on my dog the entire, but he's a test the perimeter type. My friend showed up a little later with their dog, and they play with each other at least once per week. So it was essentially just an hour and a half of sprinting around the compound around a mass of people. He doesn't really swim though, but he does love to run around and splash in the water. He fell in the deep end at my in-laws pool and was slightly traumatized, so not sure he's ever going to try in go in water where he can't stand.

When Mrs Tif was trying to rehabilitate my attitude towards dogs, the thing that put me over the top was a trip to the Redondo Beach dog park when a German Shepherd called Rocky came up and laid his head down on my leg. Today, after lunch, we went to Petco and there was a dog adoption going on. One was a 1-yr old German Shepherd called Rocky. I knelt down to say hello, and gave much side and belly rubs. I got one little kiss on the cheek, and then Rocky softly whimpered, reared up, and straight up bear hugged me around the neck and rested his head on my shoulder.

We wouldn't be doing right by our existing ohana by bringing home a new family member right now. And I'm a complete wreck for it.

Does your current dog like other dogs? Have you considered a meet and greet?

Lily is fine with other dogs. She's actually pretty fearless. My concern is she's in her twilight years, and I don't think it would be fair to introduce a new family member to the dynamic and cause stress. I also have concerns about a GSD in a house with a cat; this guy seems super mellow, and I don't think he has a strong prey drive.... but that's definitely a factor.

Also, while he's more than twice the size of either of the beagles, he's 11 months old and only around 60 pounds. So I don't think he'll be one of those bruiser GSDs that get up into the 90s.

Edit: There is also a part of me that just does not really want to go right into another dog right now. I could use a break; I'm the sole person doing the pooch wrangling every day (things like daycamp), and I'd just kind of like to turn that off for a while.

So some disgrace to humanity had 100 cats and dogs removed from her house yesterday. We've been kicking around the idea of getting a second dog, it would definitely be a rescue, things like this push me in that direction.

Her squawking on the news interview was peak trash. I get she doesn't want them in kill shelters, but torturing them en mass is not the solution.

Yeah saw that story this morning while working out. I'm sure she probably didn't mean harm, but cmon you have to know that is an awful situation to put those animals in. I heard they had to go in with oxygen tanks since the smell was so bad cause of urine etc.

This is pretty crazy, I think you could make the case that the pitbull owners share a lot of the blame in this instance. If there's an ugly dog fight, and some dude is in the middle of it strangling your dog to death, what the hell were you doing? The accounts from this article basically make no sense, so I'm not even sure what to make of this encounter.

Roscoe turned 1 yesterday, and got a free cup of dog-safe peanut butter frozen yogurt after enduring the torturous 5 minute car ride.
