The people on Facebook distributing the 'dog with ears cut off' animal abuser petition need to go **** themselves. 200,000 signatures from a bunch of Facebook heroes in America are not going to persuade the Turkish government to give these shitbags a stiffer sentence.

I'm fully aware of animal abuse as it's a cause in our household that we actively support; really didn't need that as the first thing I saw this morning.

There is this Cat rescue cafe that was supposed to open in Boston, but the owner is absolutely nuts. My friend sent me these images of deleted posts on from their FB page. It is an absolute trainwreck. No rescue place will partner with her (for good reason) and all her employees who have experience in taking care of cats have quit over her inability to make the space good for any cats to stay in. Then she calls customers "dodints", goes after legitimate rescue organizations, and attacks a former employee based on her sexual preferences. She also has mishandled the money she raised so poorly, that they opened for one day, had to close down again and she is crowdfunding to get more money to buy things like beds.

saw this yesterday while driving and I'm torn on if I should say something, but I have no idea to who. That doesn't seem to be a safe idea for an animal (top pick was about 45mph)

Has anyone else noticed a rise in ticks in the last two weeks? My dog didn't get any all summer despite running around in the brush in the back yard. Now the brush has died off and she's bringing in like 2-3 ticks a day. She's on medication so they can't get to her anyway, but my wife is unimpressed with finding them in the bed or on the couch.

Oh? I didn't have tick issues in NC, and they were more rampant in the high summer in Wisconsin. Just not used to seeing them this late. Thanks!

3. Pennsylvania
> Incidence of Lyme disease: 57.4 per 100,000 residents
> Confirmed cases: 7,351 (the highest)
> Pct. population rural: 21.3% (19th lowest)
> Pct. adults physically active: 76.9% (19th lowest)
There were 7,351 confirmed cases of Lyme disease in Pennsylvania in 2015 -- far more than any other state and accounting for 25.8% of cases nationwide. Both the number of cases and the incidence rate of 57.4 diagnoses per 100,000 residents made 2015 the worst year for Lyme in the Keystone State in at least a decade.
In light of the prevalence of Lyme disease in the state, Pennsylvania lawmakers are currently considering House Bill 174, which would require health insurance providers to cover prescribed treatment for Lyme disease -- including longer-term treatments that may be necessary for some patients.

This is a thing in the south, especially with pipeliners. I don't agree with it, but I guess it is legal. I saw a little jack Russell running around on the back of a welding rig labor day weekend. Told a cop about it and he said there wasn't much he could do about it.

One of my employees had Lyme disease and - as often is the case - requires treatments long after it's "gone." The Lyme disease doctor doesn't take insurance, because the treatments are too "alternative" for the Blue Cross world.

We had a consultation with an obedience instructor this weekend. She told us a story about the brother of her Husky being ejected and killed when the owner was side swiped. The idea of my dog getting killed in a car accident because of some **** up on the road is haunting.

My cousin's husband accidentally killed one of their dogs by slamming a car door closed on its head. Doggo came up behind him all sneaky like and jumped up to the seat at just the wrong time.

He's doing well... He likes coming over to me and asking me to pet him. Still not a huge cuddler, and likely never will be, but he's gotten very comfortable here and with his routine.
