Pets dont live long enough. I was resting with my boy next to me last night thinking about his mortality. I am sorry meow that you are having that very real process now.

In some happier news we got back Murphy's Christmas photos they took at camp last week. They somehow got him to keep reindeer antlers on his head haha.

A bunch of mystery flu cases reported in LA County the past couple days, too.
I posted about this here a few weeks? ago when it was in the NE. The recommendation at the time was no contact with other dogs from outside of the home for now. It spreads at doggie day care, etc.

Noticed a bald spot on the inner back leg of my cat, with what looked like either a rash or scratch marks. Couldn't tell, but anyway, took her to the vet. She got a shot of antibiotics and should be good soon. Looking at the bill, $67 for the .58ml of Convenia. I'm in the wrong business.

Yeah, I got hit for $120 at the emergency vet for 90 prednisones that were probably 1/4 that if I told them to call it in to the CVS. Lesson learned.

This is an injectable that is specifically for pets, so I had no real choice. I did see that the manufacturer charges $19 for that dose, lol.

hey boys. figured I'd drop this in here instead of the randomness thread.

we put our GSP down last wednesday. amazing how quickly big, older dogs downhill. we went from a slight limp to a bone cancer diagnosis, to not being able to walk on his own, to being put down - all in 6 days. he was with me since college. through a brief hockey career, marriage, kids, family deaths, my wife's cancer diagnosis, moves....so many life events. I guess I didn't realize how much of a crutch he was for my mental health until he was gone. the word that keeps coming to mind is heartbroken. I've been down since then and just sort of unplugged and tried to heal. I guess I'm coming out of it because I had enough ambition to wander back here to see what you idiots have been up to.

the kids have made it harder. it's not their fault. they just pick at the scab with saying they miss him and tell a story about him. I love that they can look back at their time with him and see the positives. a perk of being young and innocent. mrs meow and I however, get crushed when they do. it's made it harder, but it's a necessary hard.

this isn't meant to be some long-winded obituary. more of a vent / next step in the healing process. I'll probably step away for a bit more until I get over another hump. hug those doggos and kitties for me
