We installed a dog door in the Allison Park house. We had always used the sliding glass door insert, to good effect, but this house had french doors instead of sliding.

With a brick exterior it was pretty easy to cut the hole. And the door itself has a trim edge/lip so your cuts won't be on display. Just be careful of wiring in the wall.

Any one have a dog door? I am seriously considering one, but cutting a hole in my house has my anxiety up.
Our first house had a dog door in the entry door in the mud room. Which is how we found out Lily is into coprophagia.

"Honey, have you had to clean up any poo from outside in a while?"

"Now that you mention it, no. I thought you were cleaning it up."

Lily: *smacks lips repeatedly*

We make my dog have to ask either by going to the door, or by sitting at a specific spot near the couch. A dog door would probably just have him outside 95% of the day.

I forgot how expensive kitten/cat food was for more than just a single cat. I've got 6 cases now in my Amazon subscriptions for every month.

NTP66 I absolutely cannot find any Otocinclus anywhere. The three LFSs - nothing. Online - out of stock. I need some help with algae got dang it
You may or may not be surprised by this, but you can buy damn near anything on eBay. Plenty of sellers have them: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... +&_sacat=0
eBay newbie here. So if I buy from this link
https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Otocinclus-C ... SwodNetZ7-
Five fish costs $39.99. That $39.99 is for a lot of 5, no?
That listing is a little confusing with how they do their pricing, but yeah, 5 fish for $39.99 shipped.
UPDATE. I was able to hunt down some Otos at my LFS. Bought 5 and lost one every third day like clockwork. What gives? I know Otos are notoriously sensitive, but got dang. I'm thinking about going the snail route and buying like 6 nerite snails.

Also, I'm toying with the idea of doubling the neon school size from 20 to 40 or so. I've been watching the tank pretty closely and I think it'll work seemlessly.

I've never had those catfish, so I can't help you there. All of the small plecos I've ever owned (the ones that max out at 5") have lived for years, and only multiple cases of ick took some out.

That's a hell of a lot of neons. I'd still probably add them in batches of 5-10.

I have an empty 10 that I'll use to quarantine and med them before adding to my main tank. I read about a feeding plan when adding a large amount of new fish. Something like skip a day then feed half as much the second day...etc. It is supposed to help the system from falling behind.

Yeah, it’s probably to help reduce a larger detritus load when adding fish, giving beneficial bacteria a chance to do its thing. I’ve never done it, personally, but I also only feed freshwater fish once per day. Most I know feed twice daily.

What do you do for your quarantine tank? Just observe? For my saltwater tank, I was using th me tank transfer method to ensure that no fish had ick. You basically keep to a schedule and transfer the fish to a new quarantine tank every 2 days for 2 weeks straight. Lots of cleaning in between, but it’s 100% effective (thanks to using the ick’s life cycle against it) and requires nothing more than water and a heater. I wasn’t fond of raising the salinity or using copper.

Meh, she's 16 and fairly mellow, hopefully we can get into a routine where she doesn't freak out.

!0 years ago I would have had to have an entire cutproof bodysuit.

Today I stepped in cat barf barefoot. So I guess I can mark that one off the cat-owner checklist.

@RonnieFranchise We had a diabetic cat for years. Was no big whoop. We had to do insulin 2x day. He eventually went into remission and no more insulin. Make sure to get necessary bloodwork - older/diabetic cats can often = kidney disease. :(

Thanks, we got the blood work done to find out yesterday, and they want her back in 2 weeks to check her levels. They said cats can be hard to find the right dose. Right now she is 1 unit once a day.

Problem I am having this morning is she was not eating much because of this, just picking off and on. Picked up her food after the appointment yesterday and put it back down this morning, she ate maybe a couple dozen kibbles and I am afraid she didn't eat enough for me to give the insulin. I put some fish oil on it, that seemed to get her interest.

If she goes into shock from the shot (and not having eaten enough) keep honey on hand. Give her a little bit on your finger or however you need to get it into her and she'll be ok.

It can be tricky to figure out the right dose at first - usually you have to take them up to the vet a few times for a glucose curve. After that, you can home monitor - which I thinks gives more accurate results anyway, as they are in their own environment, no change to their habits, etc. My cat refused to eat at the vet - so there's no way his sugar numbers were exactly correct.

I'm hopeful she won't go into shock, she is only on a dosage of one unit which is next to nothing. She ate a little cheese and a little hamburger, but keeping an eye on her anyway.

The good news is she didn't even seem to notice the shot.

I think I'd rather give my animal a shot everyday than get a pill in them that they were unwilling to take.

This, though my wife had no problems giving our last cat 4 pills and fluids daily.
