Dogs are incredible animals- we have vehicles downshifting at a stop sign about 50 yards from my house all day. My dog knows the exact sound of my son's school bus and goes nuts when he hears it- he knows who is coming home. He's never wrong about the bus even if my kid's not always on it. Then sad pup :(

He also knows the sound of my daughter's sippy cup being disassembled- he knows he is going to get an ice cube.

Yeah, he's a great dog. Not too big but not too tiny. Not yappy. Likes to exercise but do not have to walk him constantly. Loves to make you happy.

His coat needs a lot of attention but Mrs. Franchise usually handles that.

I used to get my Dexter the "cocker spaniel cut" but he is much happier with extremely short fur. I love my dog and he just turned six. Only problem with him is he gets ear infections a lot and he licks constantly.

I like how everyone has a favorite dog breed. It is great to talk to someone that enjoys a specific breed and have them list all the attributes they love about them.

That counts too. My brother is a mutt lover. They have two and he likes that they are a mixed bag.

Sadly, I will likely never own my favorite breed. Mrs Tif and I simply do not have lifestyles conducive to owning Rhodesian ridgebacks.

We're big pit bull supporters. My wife's idea of retirement is buying a farm to foster/shelter them. As long as we're wealthy enough to hire a staff so we can travel, I'm down.

Quincy looks great cut like a cocker spaniel but everyone is much happier with his fur short. We take him to a groomer who specializes in cocker spaniels though and I always feel like she's a little disappointed when we tell her we want him cut short.

Meh, it grows back FAST.

Picked our Australian Shepherd up from the groomers yesterday. They have a dutch door to keep the dogs in the back while customers interact with employees. When I came in to get her, she jumped over the bottom door without touching it. The owner was there and she said that in the 19 years she's had that door, no dog has ever jumped it. It was an oddly proud moment for me.

posted this in the random thread, but probably fits better here...

Picked the dog up from the groomers on my lunch break. He was soooooo happy to see me. He literally jumped in my arm and started licking my face. Always get a good report from the groomers too, little guy can be such a suck up haha.
