That would be great, to be honest. We all love her. And, to be clear, she doesn't seem to be in any pain at all. She's just very old.

Yeah, you seem like a compassionate enough guy to know when is too long.

We're keeping a closer eye on her now for sure. She gets subq fluids nightly, along with other meds, and all of her numbers are still in the good range. The only thing we've been trying to change is her weight. I think she's under 4 lbs. now, so she gets "treats" and as much food as she wants.Yeah, you seem like a compassionate enough guy to know when is too long.

When we brought Tamcat into our family, it was one of those things where we just sort of absorbed that she was the youngest member of the family and didn't really pay attention to her age. Now with Lily beagle just a couple weeks away from her 16th birthday, it's sort of setting in that Tamcat is pretty much the same age as Lily Bear.
We went out for a drive yesterday, and when we got home Lily excitedly greeted us at the door, running back and forth between us. This was something that Carlin did habitually, but Lily had never in her life done before yesterday. It was kind of awesome.

So the three baby bunnies that survived the Cocker Spaniel attack are still kicking. Apparently momma has found them because they are growing like crazy and trying to hop. Eyes are still closed.
My daughter has named them so hopefully they survive. Once you name it it's more painful.

I think we may be around the corner. We noticed that she was unable to go to the bathroom today, really struggling. Took her to the vet ER, and she was dehydrated and constipated. Her kidney values were nearly doubled, pushing closer to kidney failure area. Spent the entire afternoon there, and they gave her an enema and some pain meds. We’re going to see how she does over the next few days, but it doesn’t look good.Yeah, you seem like a compassionate enough guy to know when is too long.

Good luck. I saw the notification and my heart sank.

Not a huge update, but she was able to use the litter box a few times last night, including #2, so that's progress. She's acting normal right now, but we'll be keeping a close eye on her. My wife knows this is most likely the end of the road, and I'm sure she's going to be nervous for her next visit in 2 weeks when her blood work is done, but she won't prolong this if she starts suffering or has truly entered into kidney failure.
22 years is a great run, and I'm glad I've been able to spend a decade with her. She's such a great cat in every way.

We had rabbits in our yard last year, but they haven't shown up yet this spring.

Living in rural Lancaster County, it's been interesting living in an area in which there are far more rabbits than squirrels. We had rabbits in our yard last year, but they haven't shown up yet this spring.
Last year, our goldendoodle (who is the gentlest, friendliest dog around), found a bunny nest and proceeded to slaughter the entire family. The mother's dumb fault for making her burrow right under our swing set.
Last week, she found a nest full of baby moles that was only about 4" deep. Yup...they dead.

Our Aussie mix uprooted a bunny nest last week. No deaths (he freaked out when a grey furball lept out of ground and into his face, giving me enough time to get the dogs inside), but despite our best efforts to repair and replace the mother never returned and all five bunnies kept leaving the repaired nest so we set them free on the other side of our fence.
Internet research taught me that rabbits like to nest in yards with dogs because the dog smell alerts them that it’s extremely unlikely that other natural predators are around.

It just cracks me up because honest to God she is the most gentle, kindest dog I've ever had. But man, when she finds a nest...forget about it.

We had to say goodbye to our cat today. She took a turn for the worse this afternoon, so we made the call. I don’t think she was ever in any pain, which is comforting. She lived 22 and a half years, and was very much loved. I’m going to really miss her curling up in my lap as I watched hockey on the couch (she was the only one allowed downstairs with me during the playoffs). My wife’s devastated, but my daughter is handling it pretty well, I think. I’m going to miss the hell out of this little girl.
