Despite not doing it at all last year, my dog has taken to sneaking out into the backyard and crapping in our raised bed food garden when the wife isn't home. I am trying to hide my disinterest and light amusement because my wife is super pissed.

Well I did my good deed for the day. Ran home to grab lunch, let my dog out and there was a little 25 lb mixed doggo in my backyard without a collar or tag. Got him in a collar and called the shelter to see what to do and within fifteen minutes the owner was at my house to get their dog. Good stuff

From the odd-things-you-think-about-in-a-half-awake-state file:
We have two Chihuahuas in our rescue. One is 5-ish pounds and very small. I have an acquaintance with a Great Dane mix who is 180 pounds and very large. These are the same species but their ancestors were obviously selectively bred.
So what if we did that with humans? Consider the difference between a 5-pound Chihuahua and a 180-pound Great Dane mix and translate that to humans.
I'm about 5'11" 170 pounds and am pretty average in all respects. Back-of-the-envelope math leads me to the question that if we selectively bred humans over the course of a hundred (or many more) generations or so, could we come up with a 50-foot tall human who weighed 5000 pounds?
Of course, this isn't quite correct, since Chihuahuas were selectively bred down while Great Danes were selectively bred up, both from a vaguely wolf-like size. So consider me the vaguely wolf size. Could we selectively breed both 2-foot tall humans weighing 30 pounds and, say, 25-foot tall humans weighing 2500 pounds?
A possible paper for all you eugenics majors out there...

There are dozens if not hundreds of generations of selective breeding to get a Great Dane, cos there are like 7 or 8 breeds in that cocktail. It wasn't just breeding the tallest dogs with each other.
Then again, there's no need for intermediary steps here, you're just breeding for maximum size.
In the words of Patrick McGoohan when Iron Maiden's manager (Rod Smallwood) called for permission to use dialog from The Prisoner in their music......... do it.

You get Zheng Haixia, which, according to the Google machine, is the tallest WNBA player still alive.

I’m not much of a planner. I like to assess the situation as it develops.

Wait. Just looked her up. 52. Might be past the age of being able to have a child.

This is science, man. Don't bring biology into it.

Younger than Marisa Tomei, so it's fair game

Jesus, what is this, 1970? You don't need her to gestate and birth the child. You just need her genes.

As a man of science, I can almost definitively say that it is not 1970.Jesus, what is this, 1970? You don't need her to gestate and birth the child. You just need her genes.
However, since we're talking about selectively breeding humans, it may as well be 1930.

I'm really at a loss as to what to feed my dogs. I switched to Taste of the Wild because it was supposed to be one of the best. Now this report comes along. Almost every brand listed here is a "premium" brand, meanwhile the typical grocery store foods are supposed to be garbage. What is a responsible dog owner to do?

I changed mine from TOTW to Whole Earth Farms about a year and a half ago.
