He and his (now legal) husband...never had any kids, so it's pretty rough for them.

MUCH better doggy news. A local rescue has been trying to find a home for Miss Ellie Mae for about two years and she's finally been adopted.

And with today's two-dog visit, we have cleared the five-figure barrier in vet bills since moving to SF. whooo

Know what's fun? Having a foster dog that won't really let you pet him unless he's laying on the couch get pooped on by a bird on your morning walk... f'in seagulls.

Borrowing from the Gear Grinding thread........

Both doggos spent the day at the Vet on Tuesday, for different reasons. Lily was flagged at the kennel as having blood in her pee, Carlin has had a chronic cough for about a month that has gotten quality-of-life bad. Get a call from the vet yesterday after bloodwork was checked: Lily's completely fine and dandy, but Carlin has a raging UTI.

Either the kennel we have taken our dogs to five days a week for a year mis-ID my sick dog, or the vet tagged the blood samples with the wrong names.

Mr. Kitty (aka MK) did his job overnight and killed the bat that has been in the house for a few days.

We came home from work one day several years ago and found a dead bat face down in one of the cats' water bowls.

We think one of the cats killed it, then Gracie (RIP - March 2017) carried it to the water bowl. She used to put her little stuffed animal toys face first in the water bowl all the time.

My goofy dachshund has his 10 year checkup tonight. All systems go and no back problems (though some minor hip issues). These milestones get me all wistful.

So over the weekend, my sister decided to adopt a rescue cat. So far, she isn't being particularly friendly with her other cat. He seems to be fine with her, but anytime he approaches her, she growls at him, and I guess has swatted and lunged at him sometimes as well. Supposedly she is extremely friendly and sweet otherwise.

They've been keeping the new cat basically in one room so far, but she wants to roam, being a cat, and the other cat keeps laying outside the door.

Any suggestions you can offer to potentially help with getting the new cat to accept the other?

It takes time. They usually tell you to keep them separate for several weeks, until the existing cats get used to the presence of a new one. Then let them interact slowly.
