So last weekend, I won a CZ Scorpion at a gun-bash. I'm a HUGE CZ guy but would never probably have bought one of these things with my own money. Overall, I dropped a stock and new angled grip on it, and man is a blast to plink with.

Yup. They're the quintessential bad guy gun. Even in the older movies, the old style scorpions were used everywhere. Which is what MR was referring to for Goldeneye lol.

Got around to ordering a Browning T-Bolt with the maple stock option. I've wanted a T-Bolt for a while just because I think the straight-pull action is neat, and I really like the maple stocks. After I asked for recommendations on here, I was going to get one in .17 HMR, but Bud's Gun Shop put the .22 LR versions on sale for $200 less than the not-on-sale .17 versions. That price difference is enough to cover almost all of the price of a set of scope rings and, say, a Nikon Prostaff rimfire scope. Browning is also running a $100 rebate on top of Bud's sale, which puts the total savings in the neighborhood of 50% off.

They're tac drivers with a good scope, my buddy has one in .22LR.

Got in the T-Bolt, and it is beautiful. The stock looks great, the trigger is superb, and the fit and finish are commensurate with the (pretty high) price. It's marked as being made by Miroku in Japan, which I have no problems with. A lot of rimfire rifles are on the smaller side, but this is a full-size rifle. It doesn't come with sights, so I can't shoot it until I buy a scope, but I do have the rings already. The only downside so far is that I looked into buying some additional magazines (it only comes with one), and they cost $40 apiece, which is spendy for a 10-round .22 mag.

That gun looks neat, but I don't see how it would be easily or quickly reloaded, and the ammunition blocks look like they would be even heavier and bulkier on a per-round basis than conventional magazines. The burst shot is neat, but if it leaves you stuck swapping out the block after every four or five shots, I'm not sure that's better than just changing mags.

The idea of electronic priming isn't new. Remington back in the early 2000s sold a rile called the "EtronX" that was based on the 700 and used electronic primers that were activated by a 9v battery in the stock. The trigger was just a switch that closed the circuit from the battery. It never took off because the special primers were expensive, and there were also concerns about the electronics failing under adverse conditions (rain, snow, etc.). Not sure how much those go for new, but all of the used ones I see for sale (which all look to be great condition) are running somewhere around 50% of the assessed value of my house.

Ruger just announced the creation of the Ruger Custom Shop, which looks like a competitor to the S&W Performance Center. The initial offerings are a (really expensive) SR1911 and a (really expensive) 10/22.

Bought a new deer rifle today at Cabelas. Awesome service as always. Remington 873 in 30-06. Like the weight, not a huge fan of the two-stage safety, but do like everything else. Will replace the scope with a nicer one in due time.

Yep. They had the .270 and .30-06 in stock, said they sold the last two .308's yesterday. Looked at the 873 and the Savage Axis and the 873 felt better, though not a fan of the two-stage safety, but not a big deal.

I've been kicking the tires on a new deer rifle. The hunting I do usually means I'm walking brush a lot, riding side by sides etc. I want to get a 243 I think so that I can hand it down to my son when he gets old enough. My current rifle is an older savage 110 in 308 and the wood stock is heavy

The new "value oriented" rifles like the Savage Axis, Ruger American, TC Compass, etc. might not be as fancy as more traditional rifles, but every review I've ever read of those guns has found them to be plenty accurate. And at their prices it wouldn't hurt that much if you accidentally drop it in a stream or whack it into a tree.

I've never shot one, but I've always had an attraction to the 7mm-08.

I took it to the range today and out of the box without messing with anyting I was getting 5-inch groups.

Dialed it in and was able to get it down to two and a half which mostly has to do with this garbage scope and probably getting the right grain ammunition.

So I built my own AR. Was my first build and the lower was way easier than expected. Was my black Friday rifle, cost me $440 for the upper, lower, and buffer/stock set-up.

Anyone in the market for a 12,500-round barrel of 5.56 ammo? (Also available: 7,500 rounds of 7.62 NATO.)
