All Things Guns & Ammo

Not a Glock guy, but Glock's announcement of the new .22LR Glock 44 strikes me as a great business decision, and it's something that I've thought that Glock and others should do for years. The new gun is basically a .22 version on the Glock-19-sized frame. It has a special slide that is mostly polymer in order to accommodate the much weaker recoil impulse. So it looks and feels just like a Glock 19 but with 10 rounds of .22.

I've thought for years that a .22 pistol that's the same size and has the same trigger as a defensive pistol makes a ton of sense. It would allow one to practice stuff like sight alignment and trigger discipline with cheaper ammo costs and lower recoil. The last time the NRA convention was in Pittsburgh, I talked up one of the Kahr representatives about how great it would be for them to make a .22 version of one of their guns, but did they listen to me? Nooo. Maybe now that Glock has done it we will see other companies make .22 clones of their mainstream defensive offerings.

I would love a conversion kit (if possible) to do that kind of basic marksmanship training with my actual pistol frame/grip.

Palmetto State Armory introduces the new "ANGRYJOE-14" AR-14 Stripped Lower Receiver. Yes, AR-14. Because we all need something capable of accepting of .30 cal 100 round clips.

Went to four different stores to buy some 9mm, a sporting goods store, two gun stores and a Walmart. The Walmart had ammo, but couldn't vend any of it because apparently they didn't have a 'qualified' employee working today (whatever that means); the sporting goods store parking lot was full, so I didn't even go it; one gun store was completely sold out of the caliber, and the other had a line out the door.

I feel good about where I'm in in regards to ammo lol. Also PSA does good work, but most of their political lowers are on the side of cringe, and find myself ignoring those all together.

tif, I risked venturing into mine today to by some 9mm and they informed me that they stopped carrying any handgun ammo.

Actually, this whole escape promoted a funny convo last night. Mrs Tif - who is super duper liberal - got home and I was like "Walmart couldn't sell ammo", and she was like "Can't you just order from Amazon or something?" and I was like "All ammo sales in CA have to be face to face and require a background check." and she was like "Why?!" and I was like "You tell me". And she was not receptive to my snark.

Yeah, it must be a company wide policy because there's no way my local Walmart in Redneck Central, PA would have made that call. All they sell now is ammo for long guns. No background check but you have to show photo ID.

Walmart decided to go woke and dropped handgun ammo as well as any ammo that could be used in semi-auto rifles. So you might still be able to buy something like .30-30 for your old deer gun, but Walmart will no longer sell stuff like 9mm or 5.56.

I am very happy to be pro-2A. Not to be alarmist, but things could break down quickly, which is crazy.

Not exactly. 30-06 ammo is less than lethal

Today, I decided to buy 100 rounds for a revolver that I inherited "just in case".

That makes a total of about 150 rounds altogether right now. I'm sure that I should have a rifle and/or shotgun if my ultimate goal is to survive the apocalypse, but that's not part of the plan at this point. That being said, should I get more .38 rounds at the moment? 50? 100? 250?

I don't expect society to crumble or anything, but I think I should at least be a little prepared.

Cracks me up when I see social media threads about lines at gun stores right now. The prevailing sentiment seems to be an assumption that they're all gearing up to go on food rampages, that they are stockpiling ammo so they can run wild through the streets taking everyone else's TP. Not that they are worried about a breakdown of social order and people coming to their homes and taking their comestibles. I have vegetable garden, nearly a dozen mature fruit trees, and a 30,000 gallon tank of potable water (which we call a 'swimming pool'), I'm not taking anything from anybody. I'm the target.

I think you're good.
The NRA has been oddly quiet.

They're probably trying to figure out what to do next, just like most people are. Also, the annual meetings scheduled for next month in Nashville have been canceled, so that's probably a big mess, and there's probably a lot to unwind from that.

So now it costs 70 cents every time I pull the trigger?

Meh
I'll take 2.
