NICS checks are in for August. More checks than any other August in history. 2020 should surpass the total number of guns sold in 2019 some time here in September. Sales are slowing slightly, but that might be due to the fact that unless you're in the market for hunting rifles or less-common rifle cartridges, many stores have bare shelves.

So far in 2020, Americans have bought enough guns to arm everyone in Australia and still have about 400,000 guns left over. Or to arm everyone in Switzerland thrice.

These people need to buy guns and leave the ammo so I can buy cheap stuff again.

Does the data indicate how many are first-time buyers?

There's no way to get that from the NICS data. The NSSF has been doing surveys of firearm retailers, and the responses are saying that 40% of sales are to people who have never previously owned a firearm. The surveys also say that women comprise 40% of those first-time gun purchasers, and firearm purchases are also way up for African-American men and women.

As a demonstration of just high demand is right now for all things firearm related, I swung by Missouri Bullet Company's website to see what bullets are available. I like their Hi-Tek-coated bullets for loading .38 Special, and I'm out of 158-grain semi-wadcutters. Their backlog is running 10 to 12 weeks. For bullets. Not loaded ammo, just bullets.

Buds has been out of 9mm for a while. Some of my locals are selling limited quantities though.

So glad I loaded up when Wally World unloaded all their evil caliber ammo at stupid cheap prices. Winchester white box 9mm FMJ’s for twelve cents/round. Remington.223 FMJ for $0.21/round. That was an expensive day as I bought out two local stores entire stock, but glad I did. I’ve got enough.

I posted on the prior page that a South Carolina-based investment firm called JJE Capital Holdings LLC had submitted a bid to buy Remnington's ammunition business. I didn't recognize the name, but I was watching this week's TGC News on YouTube, and I learned that among other businesses, JJE Capital Holdings owns Palmetto State Armory, which is a name I certainly do recognize. So the owners of PSA are trying to buy Big Green's ammo business.

I don't own one, but I've heard they are at least good guns for the money. Is tifosi planning to move out of California so that he can buy one?

JJE Capital Holdings isn't (at least yet) making an offer for Remington's gun business; the bid is just for the ammo business. PSA moves a ton of ammo (I've bought from them multiple times myself), so buying their own production facilities would seem to be a logical extension of the business.

I can buy them, i just have to have the lowers converted to mag-lock or featureless prior to transfer.

I just always see them featured in budget AR videos and was wondering.

I don't even know if I would consider them budget. They're pretty not bad, and you can swap barrels and parts later, but out of the box, they're going to serve you very well, imo.

Both uppers that I have, were complete because I didn't want to futz with the gas block, and they were on point.

Went to Cabelas today to look at a Savage Axis .243 for my kids and was talking to the guy behind the counter. He said they've been selling 75 to 100 guns a day and only have twenty handguns in the store. Completely out of most ammunition.

The highest bidders are in for Remington's assets in bankruptcy. These are still subject to court approval and finalization, but as it stands these would be the new owners of these assets and intellectual properties:

Vista Outdoor, Inc. (current owner of Federal, CCI, and Speer) gets Remington Ammunition.

Sierra Bullets gets Barnes Ammunition.

Sturm, Ruger & Company gets Marlin Firearms.

JJE Capital Holdings gets the DPMS, H&R, Stormlake, AAC, and Parker brands.

Franklin Armory gets the Bushmaster brand.

Sportsman’s Warehouse, Inc. gets the Tapco brand.

Roundhill Group, LLC gets the non-Marlin Firearms Business.

Pennsylvania sees record number of firearm background checks, nearly double 2019 rates
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pennsy ... und-checks

Some of these checks may be for CCW permit applications, because a PICS check is run as part of that process. That would also be hitting records. Due to Covid, the Allegheny County Sheriff's office is only doing CCW permits by appointment. I know I saw a news article in the last couple days where they are booked solid on appointments through next March.

Just ordered a Ruger PC Charger pistol. Now I need to find an SB Tactical brace for it.

7mm Rem Mag at 10 meters will absolutely obliterate a medium size pumpkin. Vaporizes the bulk of it and throws the remaining bits into a sphere with a radius of about 15 feet.

That was cool.

Happy Ruger day!

Got in the brace for the new PC Charger and a pack of MagPul Glock mags. I've never much cared for Glocks, so I don't own any, but Glock mags are much cheaper than Ruger mags, and the PC Charger comes with a Glock magwell adapter in the box. Now I need to buy a dot sight for it; it doesn't come with any iron sights.
