At the Planes Of Fame airshow in Chino, there is always a group of reenacters there representing American, German, Japanese, Italian, Russian forces. (Always a hoot watching the Japanese reenacters raise their weapons and swords when the Zero or Val fly by..... 'BANZAI!!!!' It's a little uncomfortable, but still funny.)

Thought you might like this.

I have a friend who is a Chicago police officer. We were talking about this the other day, and then it actually made the news, probably because of Uber: http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Ub ... 29691.html

For the folks that like to ask "When has a CCW holder ever stopped a mass shooting?" There you go, nice little case study that got some national coverage because of a tangential part of the story.
CCP and a SHOTGUN!?! lol!! straight outta fayettenam

Since its creation, the PA Gaming Control Board has enforced a gun ban for PA's casinos. That no-guns policy was just repealed because it violates state preemption: http://blog.princelaw.com/2015/04/17/pa ... egulation/

PA casinos are no longer off-limits for legal concealed carry.
So uh, may have violated this law unknowingly once. :pop:

Place looks awesome but it's a hike from where we're living...

...It is on the way up though so maybe I stop then.

I like that they have a decent rental selection and their range is clean. Reminds me of a smaller version of a really great range I like in Knoxville.

I only really suggested it to gauge your interest in traveling to it since your location is a secret. I'm going to triangulate your position with these suggestions. How about Anthony Arms in West Mifflin? Warmer? Colder? http://anthonyarms.com/

Not too many gun shops in the North Hills. Big Buck is in Wexford, but I'm aware their nickname in the Pittsburgh gun community is "Big Bucks." There's the new Field and Stream store in Cranberry. Up in Butler is Sportsman's Supply Company. I bought my Ruger 22/45 from them many years ago. There's a new place in West View—Steeltown Firearms. I've driven past but haven't yet gone in.

The last couple guns I bought were purchased through Davidson's Gallery of Guns, so I went with whoever had the lowest offer. In both cases that was Island Firearms on Neville Island.

Ranges are tough. There's a public game-lands range near Wexford, but it can be busy and the people who go there can be scary. I've heard stories about people not following safety rules, leaving loaded guns on the benches, etc. Most of the good ranges in PGH belong to private sportsmen's clubs, and you need to know current members to get in. Some of them have waiting lists and aren't really taking new members at all.

Well, yeah. Like anything else along those lines, most states have a hotspot near the biggest city and then it cools as you mosey out into relaxed living.

And then there is Cali, where they're butthurt all the way up one side. ;)

Found this op-ed to be lol'tastic.

Why men feel the need to carry guns
The gun rights platform is not just about guns. It's also about a crisis of confidence in the American dream. And this is one reason gun control efforts ignite such intense backlashes: Restrictions are received as a personal affront to men who find in guns a sense of duty, relevance and even dignity.

Not for home defence or anything like that but because they are so much fun to take to the range, friend of mine had one in PA... Was a pleasure

Seems to me like she is making a fancy version of the good old "guns are penis extensions" argument.

My Electric Airsoft gun looks almost dead nuts similar to that. Nobody likes me after I use it. :|

I decided to try out my dad's 16 gauge Sears shotgun. I couldn't find any shells locally so I ordered a few boxes of slugs and one of shot from Bass online. I swung by the range today and was pleased to find it empty as I don't know if I'm actually allowed to shoot a shotgun there. The rules just list pistols and rifles but being a lawbreaker I am, I threw caution to the wind.

I have never actually fired a shotgun or rifle before and wanted to see what it was like. I'm used to the trigger on my Ruger 9mm pistol which you have to pull way back before the gun fires. I was expecting something similar with this, so when it seemed like I barely touched the trigger on this old shotgun, I nearly shat my pants when it went off. Again, I was glad no one else was at the range.

The shotgun only has the old iron type of sights and I couldn't hit the 6" target with 2 tries at 50 yards. I moved over to the shorter/pistol target and hit it 4 out of 4 times at 15 yards but it seemed to shoot consistently low (about 4 inches below the bullseye) but I was hitting pretty straight aside from that. I only did 6 shots (one box of slugs) and the barrel was getting pretty hot so I packed it up. It was a fun experience, I just wish ammo was easier to get. My shoulder's a little sore tonight but nothing too uncomfortable. I'd definitely like to head out again and try to improve my accuracy.

16 gauge ammo is hard to find in Somerset? It's pretty plentiful off the mountains..

No, I'm sure it's the shooter.

mac - I couldn't find any locally. I might have to check more indie stores though.
