Yea that's a bit out of my range lol. I belong to one back home, which is an hour away, but I want to be close to one.

Understood. It's hard to find a good club that doesn't charge a ridiculous amount. Hecla was like $60 to join and is $15 annually. To hunt and fish its like $30 each. Range is included in your dues. It's not super fancy but it's nice enough for me. Plus free beer every meeting night... Lol

Basically yeah, I'm looking for a 1-200 YD rifle range and that's one within like 10 minutes of my house. I'm a 20 year member at the one where I grew up, I miss going there semi-routinely.
All Things Guns & Ammo
How far are you from SGL #203? Thet have a nice rifle range.
All Things Guns & Ammo
Not far at all, it's where I go most times. Just trying to get that club exclusivity life lol
All Things Guns & Ammo
Yeah, no post range 75 cent beers there

Picked up a Glock 19X for funsies yesterday. They haven't been in stock around me - whenever I check, saw one yesterday and scooped it up.

Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops are offering 0% interest through Dec. 24 if one spends more than $500 and has a Cabela's or Bass Pro credit card. There don't seem to be any exclusions, so that would be good on stuff like ATVs, boats, and firearms.
I decided to use the deal to purchase a second gun safe: a Browning Silver 33. I'm going to convert my current Cannon safe to an "all long guns" configuration and have the second Browning safe set up "all shelves" for handguns, documents, and other stuff. The time for shipping is listed as up to 28 weeks, so I might be waiting a while.

@tifosi77 may be interested in this. Franklin Armory has introduced the CA320, which is basically a SIG P320 that has a grip module that has been permanently and irrevocably altered so that it can only accept one round at a time. As a single-shot pistol, the gun has been approved by the California by the Department of Justice as is on the Roster of Certified Handguns as of 01/11/2023.
Considering the SIG P320 is a modular design where the FCU can be removed from one grip module and inserted into another grip module, one might wonder whether the grip module on the CA320 could be replaced in like 30 seconds with a conventional grip module capable of accepting regular detachable magazines. That would be illegal, though, so I'm sure that no one would ever even think of that, much less actually do it.

Retail will be $949. OEM regular grip modules can be had for under $100. All-in that's about twice what a new 320 costs in normal places, a little less than the regular price of a steel frame Sig P226 here. They will be sold out by tomorrow.
Franklin Armory just recently introduced an SSE AR pistol that's essentially exploiting the same loophole similarly manufactured and sold in accordance with applicable laws with the expectation consumers will act in kind.
Following the litigation, I think the Roster is living on borrowed time. But it may still be a few years before we don't have nonsense like this.
My favorite comment was a guy on FA's Instagram who said, and I quote, "I don't understand what's happening."

I mean, I doubt Sig had this specific use case in mind, but the modularity on display is precisely the point of the 320 system.

I'm not aware of any post-Bruen challenges to the roster, but I would imagine if they haven't been filed already, they will be soon. The folks at places like the FPC are have been wearing their fingers down to nubs typing up all of the lawsuits.
All Things Guns & Ammo
Renna v. Bonta (handgun roster) and Miller v. Bonta (assault weapons ban).
Both have been ongoing for a couple years now and have had some entertaining developments post-Bruen. I think the central logic of Bruen is deeply stupid, but it is what it is. Meaning it is the 'law of the land' (or rather the guidebook for interpreting the law of the land). And the CA DOJ attorneys defending the statutes have................. not exactly been coving themselves in glory lately.

Ah, yes, citing past racist laws has the historical precedent for their current gun bans. I knew about the assault-weapons case, but I'd forgotten about the roster one. I think the updates I've seen have all been on the assault-weapons case.
All Things Guns & Ammo
I forgot to address this directly back when this all happened, but your post refreshed the thread so here we are.Considering the SIG P320 is a modular design where the FCU can be removed from one grip module and inserted into another grip module, one might wonder whether the grip module on the CA320 could be replaced in like 30 seconds with a conventional grip module capable of accepting regular detachable magazines. The above would not be illegal. The way the law works, a handgun can only make the roster as a single-shot exemption (SSE) if it was manufactured from the get-go as a single-shot piece, and at no time prior to transfer was it in any other functional configuration, and no individual component of the full pistol was ever included some other semi-auto build. Once that transfer is made, the owner can more or less do with it what they like, provided it complies with all other CA laws. So taking the serialized FCU out of the farkakte single-shot frame and putting in a normal frame from SIG or Wilson Combat or whatever that accepts regular mags and costs all of $60 is legally no different than getting a slide cut for an optic or installing Trijicon sights. All three of the local FFLs that I follow on social sold out of their allotments within an hour or so of accepting deposits.
Also, an illustration of why the Roster is so dumb (functionally, never mind legally) and why charades like this ensue: The H&K USP and all variants that had been on the Roster fell off about a year ago. Because, as I understand it, H&K apparently switched suppliers for a screw in the slide. This meant the pistol was no longer being offered in the condition in which it was initially tested and approved, and thus no longer certified, and as such was now subject to all the new requirements that have gone into effect in recent years (e.g. microstamping) which is a burden no manufacturer can meet.
All Things Guns & Ammo
As I understand it, this will just eliminate most of the famously stupid qualifiers. So the roster will still exist, it will just include pretty much all handguns now.

Also I'm not sure if the ruling contemplates this, but the way the roster works is if one new firearm is approved, three must come off. It's a ban-by-1000-cuts approach that I think would still be in effect.
All Things Guns & Ammo
I took a look at the opinion, and while the entire concept of the roster is challenged in the suit, the plaintiffs' motion for a preliminary injunction was limited to the chamber-indicator, mag-safety, and microstamping requirements. Not sure why that strategy, but I would assume the one-goes-on-three-come-off requirement would now be much more in play because new guns will actually be able to go on the roster in the first place. I'm thinking the plaintiffs might have waited to bring that issue because absent the injunction against the other stuff, no new guns could go on the roster anyway, so the state would likely have argued that a challenge to the one-goes-on-three-come-off requirement would be moot because no new guns had been added. Also I'm not sure if the ruling contemplates this, but the way the roster works is if one new firearm is approved, three must come off. Last year at this time, I owned 0 shotguns. I bought a gun raffle chance from our baseball team. I won a 6.5 which I didn't need since I already owned one. Took the store credit and bought a Mossberg 500 12 gauge. Last week I bought a chance to win either a fly rod, griddle, or 12 gauge shotgun. Guess which one I won?
All Things Guns & Ammo
I own fewer shotguns than any other type of gun. That said, sporting clays is super fun.

Two is one and one is none, as they say.

So 13 of them? Or, I guess most were lost in that boating accident huh..I own fewer shotguns than any other type of gun. That said, sporting clays is super fun.
