I will not tolerate anyone telling me to buy the car from Dodint's post...

Turns out it's time to say goodbye to my Vibe. Took it in for inspection and it'll take 3K to get it to pass inspection. It's only worth like 1K... so off to shopping we go. What a sh*t time to try and buy a car. Used car lots are bare.

It's pretty much 1.5K for parts and labor for exhaust system. The guy said everything else looks great. It'll need new tires before winter, and it'll need new rear brakes at some point which is where the other just ~$750 comes from... I'm trying to convince myself just go ahead and pay for the repairs and drive it another couple years until the car market stabilizes. But I know the minute I go that route, the engine will explode.

Yup. I've gone looking a couple times since this control arm is becoming an issue. Had both a Camry and Legacy I was going to look at sell 5 minutes before I got to the lot, then was working on a deal and got undercut buy someone less willing to negotiate for price.

This truck has 8K more miles than when I bought mine, is a V6 and they still want almost $40K for it. I got mine for sub $35. I am so thankful I bought right before COVID. This is obscene.

You are living my nightmare right now. I feel the engine idle fluctuate a tiny bit and my mind immediately goes to how much money can a 7 year old make raking leaves.

Those are decent prices for those 20-21 Acuras.

The 2021 Acura Type-S is still going for nearly $54k.

Update: chatted with the mechanic a bit. He said he’s seen probably 4 or 5 vibes with this issue in the past 3ish years. Said it’s something systemic with the exhaust, but the rest of my car is in great shape. Needs new tires and new rear brakes (tumbles not discs). I asked “I know you can’t predict the future, but do you think this thing will make it 2 more years if you do this repair?” He said “I’d put money on it were i a gambling man.”

Considering the market right now, I’m just gonna get it fixed and try to get a couple more years out of it.

Do have good news though - found a 2021 Camry with all of the options I'm looking for at Toyota Greensburg. Hasn't been built yet but I put a deposit down on it to effectively guarantee the car is mine once it comes over.

Unfortunately no. Looked at one of those (XSE), but the dealer only had bright red seats available.

I went with an SE in silver.

That too much black for me but I like the black wheels on lighter color cars.

I need to get a photo of my neighbor's Cobra. The exhaust pipes are practically touching the ground, and it looks hilariously bad. I'm also not sure if there's a legit reason for it, but whenever he starts it up, he slam pumps the gas for about 5 seconds before actually moving. It sounds like every other shitty Mustang on earth.

Based on the line around the rear window, it looks like the new Integra is going to be a hatchback. Color me mildly interested.

Reminds me of the 350Z rear end, which I also hate.

In my brief few days of looking for a car, I’ve noticed “hatchbacks” aren’t a thing anymore. They’re all called “subcompact suvs”. It’s weird.

Anyways, the Hyundai Kona with the turbo engine has my eye. Unless the HRV comes out with something that has a little more giddy up, that’s likely what I’ll go with in a couple years.

Crossovers definitely aren't my thing. Are you an SUV or a wagon? Pick one.

I love my vibe. I want something similar. Don’t care what it’s called.
