I'll message you when I have a chance to get some pics so you can see what's there.

That's going to be your answer, most likely. Can they get a wrecker to the location of the vehicle, or is the terrain too bad?

I think it would be rough to get it in there. Plus, I have a poor excuse for a french drain running underground and am wary of having a very heavy vehicle drive over that.

I sent you a bunch of pics on FB. And there is an engine in the thing. It's been about 10 years since I bought it and I really thought the engine bay was empty.

A boat would be easier to get out.

I posted my truck in a couple FB groups and actually have several interested potential buyers. A few have asked about a title which I do not have. I bought it from a junkyard 10 years ago and would have to go back through my old paperwork to see if I have the sales receipt. Is there any way to get a title for the truck now without costing a small fortune or spending an inordinate amount of time? I'm probably only going to get between $1000-1500 for it so I don't want to waste much time or money.
@dodint ?

That's some ass pain, my man. Unfortunately, PA just doesn't have a mechanism in place for dealing with this situation. Many states allow you to have a 'bonded title' to protect you and any prior owners that may have an ownership interest. You post a bond, title the vehicle, and after a set period of time you get the money back if nobody makes a competing claim. PA does not do this.

The only way to make it work would be to petition the court to recognize your ownership, which will cost money. And that only works if you retained the bill of sale and can prove ownership. Layer on top of that issue the fact that PA courts are a little clogged right now and it's an uphill battle with a low ROI. You'll probably spend $1,000 just to go through that once you've paid your attorney and the court. Your ownership period is longer than the 10 year period PennDOT retains records, and your truck is old enough not to have a VIN. Just, a lot to cut through, there.

If you wanted to pursue it I could work something out with you on representation. While I wouldn't hit you with a fee, you'd still be on the hook for court costs and whatever you think your time is worth.

I appreciate the advice and the offer for free legal help (woot!). But, yeah, it's definitely not worth that kind of hassle.

Thanks again though. I really do appreciate it!

As an aside, when I was double-checking my analysis I found this attorney:

http://www.vintageautomotive.net/
http://vintagecarlaw.com/index.html

Looks like he has a niche practice that basically only does what you're asking. 717 area code but he's clearly set up as a virtual firm. Might be worth giving him a call and just asking what he thinks it would cost. If it's less than $500 it might be worth it.

There is the Vermont loophole: https://cartitle.com/

I don't have any personal experience using it, but a Youtuber (Vice Grip Garage, which has been posted in this thread before) used it to title an old 30s roadster or some such.

Thanks! I love Vice Grip Garage's videos.

It's looking like I probably don't have to worry about it. Just got an offer for $1750 and another for $1600. Now I'll see if either show up.

Wish I would have taken a picture of the pickup truck we saw in Kentucky with a spoiler on the bed cover. Had so many questions after seeing it

It doesn't look too horrible, but it's also up to the running boards in mud from the bed back, so...
