The previous salesman I talked to in 2017 said that it’s to prevent tire thieves when the cars are on the lot. I called bullshit, but Googled it later. A Rick Hendrick dealership in Charlotte (big chain in NC/SC) had dozens of tires stolen one night. Other dealerships had similar incidents.

For me, they are just annoying. Always digging around for the lug key when getting the car serviced, having to put it away when they are done with it. My wife’s 2017 Accord didn’t come with the original lug nuts, so unless I buy new ones, I can’t swap it out like I did with my other cars. Just a minor annoyance.

If true, why not just remove them when the buyer buys the car?

Exactly. I told the salesman this and he laughed at me.

Which means it isn’t just about tire theft on the lot.

All hail the people who write up instructions or create a video on how to replace obscure parts in your car. A quick YouTube search showed me the exact part (blower motor transistor) and location that I’d need to access it for my wife’s CR-V, whose fan stopped working on any speed. $20 part on Amazon.

Some folks are really good at explaining that stuff. Was watching a video of a guy restoring a BMW V10 fuel system by hand, magnificent.

The second video I found was actually a guy replacing a diode and cap on the part itself for $1, rather than spending money on a replacement part. If the part wasn’t so cheap, I’d probably have gone that route just to break out my soldering iron again.

Personally, not a fan at all, but I know others here are:

Swoon. If the price isn't insane I'll be so tempted to buy one of the new Broncos.

I do want to see more photos though. I love vintage Broncos, the 70s versions, not the OJ kind.

There's an app called Torque that I use with my OBD2 reader on my TDI. Allowed me to get info about EGTs and such.
That's the one I was looking at, as well.
If you need a rec for a quality reader, this is the one I use:

There are less expensive ones but that's a quality unit.
My wife took my car out for the first time since March, and on the way home it threw a CEL (fantastic!). Acura's onboard computer gave me the code, but I wanted to run o2 monitoring using my cheap scan tool, but it's throwing link errors. The tool you use is discontinued, so I bought this:

I hope this works and it's not an issue with the damn port on my car, because I was hoping to avoid taking the car to the shop and replacing the o2 sensor myself if that's the issue. I'd like to be able to narrow down which o2 sensor is causing the problem, as the code doesn't specify.

Looks like this is the new entry version of mine:

There is an MX+ available but it's $119, so, yeah, no.

Funny thing is I'm in the market for a BMW specific scanner/coder. Haven't decided on one yet. CBear?

If this scanner won't connect, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I can swap the two o2 sensors that I've seen referenced online and hope for the best, but if that doesn't work, it sounds like I really would need a new cat. Crazy to me, given the mileage. Acura charges like $800 for them, and I've got 3 (3rd one may not be as much).

What is the code? Usually the code is specific to the bank/sensor number of the motor.

P0420. It should be bank 1 sensor 1, but I've read Acura techs on the forum say that it's sensor 2, so I want to just see what the scanner says to confirm.

There is a car I have been watching since February, on a lot near Philly. It's been on the lot for 438 days. I started making plans to go buy it next Wednesday.
It's now Pending Sale. Amazing.

I know the moral here is don't slow play a car for 5 months, but you can't help but laugh at the timing. 438 days.

Now that more pics of the Bronco are out, I think I'll just keep looking for an old CJ.

What was it?
An E63 BMW M6 coupe w/manual transmission. They only made 303 of them, globally, so they're not common. I know of another in Maryland, but it's white. Meh. There is another in Ohio but the dealer isn't accepting trades and I don't want the hassle of selling my Z4.

We'll see how I feel in a week.

Yeah, that.

For some reason the second gen Dodge Viper market has also dried up. I had 4-6 solid candidates and I am down to 1. And it's in Arizona.

I already lined up a buyer for the SRT-4. So it's a little frustrating.

Which?

I had a 650i and loved it which is why I am after the M6.
The Viper is is for competing in One Lap 2021 and some Time Trials events. I would sell it after One Lap is over in May.
