I'd like one of this meaner looking dodge:

I used to spend a ton of time on allpar.com. Niiiice.

My first question for the cop car auction would be, "Are there any smells?" Because the odds that some drunks have blown chunks or crapped their pants in the back seat are pretty decent.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
The fact that it sold once and then was relisted does up the probability of that chance.

That would be your choice for a winter beater?

Yeah bruh. To push the snow out of the way.

With his rear fenders as the car slides?
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
Yeah, I mean, I'm already driving a RWD car with a bunch of torque. That one is just heavier. The car I drove last winter was a BMW 650i, RWD/V8, which was even more unwieldy. The cruiser is also AWD, which is something. I also no longer have to drive to St. Paul so my winter driving needs are now less than they were before. That would be your choice for a winter beater?
I have strange priorities. I'm trying to find something fun and cheap that I would be happy with. My buddy pointed out that C5 Corvette Z06s now have snow tires available on the market (thanks, Pirelli) and now I'm leaning towards doing that. The only thing keeping me from really doing that is I couldn't drive in anything very deep, it only has a 3.5" front ground clearance. But on those days I can just drive the van.
Money/time no object I'd do this:

The Charger is AWD? I retract my statement then. Proceed, dodint.

It's the perfect excuse to do stuff on a budget. You don't care if the car looks great, it's not supposed to be a show car. So you can get one that has some cosmetic imperfections at a discount and play/cruise to your hearts content without being afraid somebody is going to hurt your baby.Yeah, like I said, I am not wired right.Winter. On the flip side, would insuring a C5 be more or less than a DeLorean? I was shocked how much my 16 year old Mini Cooper was. In two years I've paid enough to buy the car again.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
Yeah, that's a consideration for sure. I do not want to replace my current DD with a DD and a DD/track car because the fleet is getting big and it gets tiresome maintaining and paying for so many vehicles at once. Just looked and my six month rates for each vehicle are:
2002 BMW 330CI 2D $416.70
1982 DELOREAN DELOREAN 2D $281.43
2013 MINI COOPER 2D $461.93
2003 FORD E-350 ECONO WAGON CLUB $309.20
And my motorcycle is currently unregistered and uninsured as I have no time to ride it. All of those policies are standard full coverage with the DMC reported as 4,000 miles a year and the van as 5,000 a year. Carrier is USAA. I've been wanting to shop around lately, maybe this look will give me some motivation to do so.
The C5Z is one of the most potent track cars out there in stock form, especially for the money. It would be a car that I can take to Track Nights or HPDEs without going through the hassle of putting the race car (my current BMW that I intend to cage and take off road in January) on a trailer and hauling it out. But it would also have to be able to do year round (mostly, again, can drive the van in deep snow if needed) DD duty because that's the car it's ultimately replacing. The car I really want is my friends '99 S281-SC Saleen Mustang but I respect it to much to make it do winter duty.
Speaking directly to your point, this car is local and will never be a show car, would be the perfect candidate to put a half cage in and bomb around race tracks on days I'm not working: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sal ... =514786473
It's a salvage title so it's never going to appreciate.

I'll never understand insurance rates.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
Yeah, the DMC is worth 4x what the MINI is. But when you consider the annual mileage for the MINI is 4x as much maybe it does make sense.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
It that "classic car" insurance? Are there limits about when you can drive (only during daylight hours) and how many miles per year?Yeah, the DMC is worth 4x what the MINI is. But when you consider the annual mileage for the MINI is 4x as much maybe it does make sense.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
No, it's on my regular policy with the rest of the cars in the house. The 4,000 mile 'limit' is just what I told the insurance company I would be driving it per year when getting my quote.

You pay that every 6 months?2002 BMW 330CI 2D $416.70

2013 MINI COOPER 2D $461.93

Just the other day I was thinking $882 for 1 year for my 2013 Wrangler JKU was expensive.

Your Jeep cost more than 3 out of 4 of them. Not sure what you mean.

Unless I read that wrong, you're paying more to insure your Mini alone than I do for my Wrangler, right? If so your post made me realize my insurance payment isn't bad at all.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
Right. The MINI payment is about $925 if you annualize it. It's our newest car that we also claim the most miles on. It's worth something like $9,000. We own it, I could carry less coverage if I wanted but my wife keeps getting rearended and t-boned at intersections so I carry full coverage on it.

We pay around $1700/yr for the GS and CX-7 with Erie Insurance. I love their lifetime warranty on their direct-repair shop repairs policy. Had the Lucerne's quarter repainted for free before I traded it, a few years after it was originally repaired, because it was starting to show a few rust bubbles. The front cover on the GS is slightly out of shape or has broken tabs or something. It started pulling away from the grille, and now there's a 1/8 gap for an inch or two right at the point. Shop tried to reattach it, but it popped right back out within a day or two. They're getting a new cover and I'll get it fixed in the next couple months.

Mine is $181 for 6 months. Minimum coverage.
