I blew a headgasket and subsequently melted down a Land Rover Discovery II about 6 years ago.

I've never owned a convertible. I've narrowed my choice down to a Boxster or a Z4. Running into an issue with the Porsche, tho:

****.

It's fine for daily use but I probably can't track it that way.

You like that steering wheel on your junk? Sucks being tall, can’t drive any of the fun cars.

The DMC is similar so I am kind of used to it. For some reason the wheel in tbe Porsche is telescoping but not tilting.

Yeah, that doesn’t make much sense, along with a number of others. I’d look a little more into how they figured out their rankings, but after seeing Chevy so high, I realized that it wasn’t worth the effort.

Consumer Reports seems to be the way to go for car reviews, imo.

I’m not sure if I could trust them based on past experience in other areas. Going back to my original concern, parts for Land Rovers are expensive, and not all shops can/will work on them, which factors into things.

 Just dismiss it because it doesn't match your expectation. Chevy and Buick >>> Honda and Acura.

Kia and Hyundai really high though. I remember there were lots of problems when they first started importing them back in the day.

My brother had an Excel that developed an oil leak. Our mechanic had difficulty putting the engine back together because of bad tolerances in the machining of most of the components. Yikes.

You keep making comments about BMW being unreliable. Did one of us state that?

Everyone I have ever met has said that. It's a silly trope.

I don't have anyone specific in mind here, though. Last time I remember it being discussed was when someones parents had a water pump go out on the way down south.

My parents have two BMWs, and they pay hundreds if not thousands a month on maintenance. One is 2014 X5, the other is an 2008 535. The X5 has cost more money in just under 5 years than the sedan in 11. SC built...hmmmm.
Oh, yeah, there is one.

Still not a fan of the headlight design, but I like everything else. I assume they’re going to price this in the $60k range.

Talking to a guy on Long Island about a Porsche like the one in the picture I posted earlier. Might take off work Friday, drive out there Thursday night and pick it up.

Comes with the factory hard top, too:

Yeah. The only place where it's truly tight is the pedal box is a touch close. But it's an automatic (daily driver duty, auto so the wife can drive it on occasion) so it won't be nearly the issue that it would be if it were a manual. The steering wheel is in the same position as it is in the DMC so that's not a concern either. The hard top is great since I'll be driving this year round. My buddy Tyler used to own a 911 (996) and has an extra set of wheels with winter tires on them for me.

This car is replacing my blue BMW. The BMW is getting a full cage and will be built as a proper race car over the winter, not smart to drive it on the street with steel piping a few inches from your head.

And...it sold between 8pm last night and now. That blows. :(

The only other car I'm really interested in is a Z4, but it's out in Phoenix, AZ and the 38 hour drive is not something I'm really looking forward to. Hopefully something else pops up between now and when I plan to go out.
