I'm stuck between this car in NJ:
https://www.garymotors.com/details/used ... r/55778800
and this one in AZ:
https://www.buyazauto.com/pre-owned-car ... -Z4/356644
Both cars are equally compelling in their own way. The Z4 is 'safer' as it is in my comfort zone, I already have a garage full of tools and wheels for it, and a local independent mechanic. With the long weekend coming up I'm taking Friday off and going to get one or the other. Just not sure which. The Porsche has an airbag light on, seems like a hassle to deal with it. But, it's something completely new and fun.
The trip from Arizona would be 31 hours of driving. Scottsdale to Amarillo to Indianapolis to Pittsburgh. Would be about 10hrs/15hrs/5hrs on Fri/Sat/Sun.

That drive to AZ sounds horrendous, but could be an adventure. AZ cars won’t have rust problems either.

It's originally from Minnesota.
Some guy had it and likely retired to the heat and then sold it. A convertible in Arizona is kind of useless most of the time.

I'd go the Porsche route based on looks alone. That one posted above looks higher than I'd expect?

I think it's the custom wheels and low profile tires. The offset seems slightly off as they seem to protrude from the wheel arch opening more than usual.
The Porsche looks better up front but is awkward in profile, to me. The front is the same as the back.

Got my new tires installed yesterday, by TireRack's highest rated shop in the city. Because my last tires lasted only 19,000 miles, I asked them to look at the alignment. They called me: front suspension - broken (both struts leaking, bushings all gone); rear suspension - broken (both shocks leaking). Estimate for $3,800 worth of repairs.
I take the car to the local Benz/BMW service for the second opinion. After some time, the mechanic says "Come with me, I have to show you something". We get to the service area, the car is lifted up. He shows me that there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the front suspension. Not even the tiniest of leaks, the bushings in a great shape. Just one of the real wheels has indeed the problem with the broken/worn down/leaking shock.
Effin' unbelievable...

Take pictures and go have a word with that other shop's management. If they don't care, leave a review on Google at the very least warning others.

Just about had an existential breakdown over dropping the oil fill cap down between the engine block, front exhaust manifold, and cross member on my accord.
After nearly an hour of prying, my skinny armed wife came home and retrieved it for me in aboit 25 seconds.

I've used my aquarium grabbers to retrieve dropped parts before.

I have one of those claw grabber things, no dice, and a magnet on a stick but it was a plastic cap.

any record of the IMS bearing being swapped?
Supposedly those were an issue in the later 1st gen Boxsters (2000-2005)

No record. That's part of why I passed on it.
It was an issue for all of the first gen Boxsters, but they swirched the bearing design up in the later cars you refenced, but made it worse. Sad.
I am flying to Phoenix on Friday morning. Amusingly they gave me a TYFYS discount and that solidified my decision.

X6 in Vantablack:
Vantablack reflects just 1% of the light sent its way, removing an item's three-dimensional appearance and making a person feel like they're staring into a black hole.

Appropriate, given how only dadholes drive them.

Or at any time of day. I was just going to post that if you paint a car that color, the headlights better be set so they can never be turned off.Seems like a great way to cause accidents at night.

I’ve been binge watching Wheeler Dealers and Junkyard Empire pretty much non-stop recently.

WD is great until S18.
Same, though. I finally gave in and subscribed to MTTV channel on Prime.

I must be missing the joke, because I think it’s currently season 15? I just Googled it and see both 15 and 18, lol.

S17 is the last season with Edd China. Mike Brewer is okay in small doses, but lately I've been fastforwarding until he delivers the car to the shop.
There are 20 seasons on Amazon Prime Video.
