Weird, every time I go to Firestone, they try and charge me $100 more for stupid stuff.
I've been using the one by work for inspections and tires for about 5 years now. Not ideal, but it's convenient - I can walk to my office from it in under 3 minutes. I think they've got me tagged in their system as someone who is more hands-on. They never try to add that stuff on anymore. A couple years of me telling them I'll do it myself must have had an effect.

My uncles tire shop is an authorized Firestone/Bridgestone retailer. That's the only tires I ever purchase.

I really liked the Potenza RA760 Sports that I ran on my car years ago. Really good summer tire.

My wife runs destination LE3 on her expedition and I have destination XT on my truck. Obviously I get them for a steep discount, but they are really good tires.

I have Michelin CrossClimate2's on my car now and hate them. I won't be purchasing them again.

Bridgestone DWS or GTFO.

I was reading last night and learned that U-Haul makes all of its own equipment. For the trailers they rent they make their own tires in a bespoke size, they have U-Haul on the sidewall. That's a bit strange to me.

...doesn't Continental make the DWS?

Yeah, sorry, doing two things at once.

Continental DWS is my default tire. I even run them on the M6 now even though there is no chance they'll see snow. I do like Bridgestone tires as well but generally only buy their Blizzaks.

I had such an awful experience with DWS's that it would be difficult for me to give them another shot. When I got these Michelin's, I read a lot of charts and testing, and found a few options - one of them being a DWS tire. We'll see when I need to replace these ones.

Interesting. The only tires I outright abandoned were Pirelli. I love the company and wanted so badly to drive them, but their wear rate was insanely bad and they wouldn't honor the warranty. This was across multiple sets on several different cars. They're just a super soft tire which is great for the track but awful for my wife's daily driver.

I've put goodyear comfort drive tires on my and my wife's subarus the last time we got tires and both have performed well it seems even in snow.

I'd honestly have to search back to find out what issue I had with the DWS's. I legitimately do not recall.

I cycle cars so often I sometimes don't have a say. My Saab is on Goodyears and my TrailBlazer is on Kumho's. The M6 is on Continentals and the race car has Nexans (time trial), Hankook (endurance), and Toyos (sprint race slicks).

Maybe my brand loyalty isn't so strung after all. ;)

I would've thought that as well but they make a surprisingly good truck tire. They were on the van the entire time I owned them and did great, and they happened to be on the TrailBlazer when I bought them. I wouldn't buy them for a car, though.

I run Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my Truck. Love them.

I think I'm running old General Grabber tires on my Jeep. It's been awhile since i've swapped them out.

I had the General Grabber AT2 on my truck and switched to the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S.

somebody rolled up on me as I was putting groceries into the back into the back of my Vivio and asks "is this your car?" Of course I tell him yeah, which he tells me that he always sees it parked up front when he shops. So we get to talking and he asks if I would ever consider selling it. I told him that I just got it earlier this year and have barely put any mileage on it. Despite this, he tells me that he found a few online for well above what I paid for mine.

So now I'm at the point of whether I should sell it or not. I found two listings on the east coast with more mileage going for about $4k more than what I paid, even after shipping charges and having new tires installed. I think one of the listings was the one that he was referring to.

Considering it's a pain in the ass to find parts for (something I should have considered beforehand), I may see if he was serious about asking if I'd sell.

I forgot you had that, neat.

My gut feeling is if you have even a slight itch to sell it now would be the time. I'm in that same boat with my M6 which is part of the reason I'm doing so much refurbishment and preventative maintenance on it lately. Just in case I want to pull that trigger.

I have almost zero loyalty to a vehicle, but I also regret selling a lot of them. If you can make a buck on it and had a fun time driving it for the past few months... I'd let er rip and buy something new and fun.

I don't know if I could sell my TL-S. I'm 99% sure that I wouldn't, even if I bought a new car.

I love my cars, I generally buy them because they're special in some way. Except for the TrailBlazer, it's a Chevy and not special at all. But once I sell one I'm happy to move it along to someone new that will enjoy it the way I did when I first got it.

The only misstep was the Delorean. I sold it too soon and to a couple of doughboy idiot brothers that shafted me on the delivery and clearly didn't know what they bought. If I could go back I would have held onto it.
I think that's why I'm really wrestling with selling the M6 next year. It's a one-of-three-hundred car and truly special in a few ways and I likely won't buy another down the road.

I sold my 03 accord in Nov 2020 for $800. I bet I could get triple that today. Or at least could've 3 months ago.. lol

Continental DWS is my default tire.
:thumb:

On my third set on the GS. I do switch to studded Nokian Hakkapeliittas for winter (getting that done this weekend) but the DWS have been great in all conditions I've run them through, even the snow we get before I get them switched.

It's a fun little car and like dodint said, it's probably the best time to sell.

I found one listed in TN listed for 11k with higher miles and I found another that sold on BaT for 7500 that had rust and some other issues like old dried out tires.

The lack of availability with parts and having a garage that won't touch it because they can't order parts is kinda bothering me. Most claim it's a liability issue since they can't guarantee anything with parts that they don't order, and I can understand that side of it. I might give it until the weekend just to be sure. If the idea is still kicking around, then I'll give that dude a call to see if he still wants to buy.
