I was apparently way off on my estimate for an epoxy floor in my 2-car (+cubby area) garage. Looks like it'll run me around $2700 to have everything done, when I assumed it'd be much closer to $5k. Noice.

Not bad. Is it a local company\contractor?

It’s actually a large chain, Floorguard. This particular franchise/location has hundreds of positive reviews.

Thanks a lot. Think I will look into this also.

I forget. What's the downside of epoxy? Cost? I am designing a 1000sqft garage and haven't settled on a floor covering yet.

Cost is probably one of them, but installation has to be the next one. Some companies acid wash as prep, but that’s not nearly as effective as diamond grinding and shot blasting (which is what a lot of the companies I researched do).

I wanted epoxy because it’s the same flooring you’ll find in airport hangers and high end auto shops. I’ll be able to work on my car without worrying about staining or screwing up the floor, with exception to stuff like battery acid, which would need to be cleaned immediately.

Plus, in the winter, you can squeegee any moisture off the floor easily.

What do you think a shop would charge for a new wheel bearing and abs sensor? Ballpark

$500-700? You'll definitely save a few bucks if they're working on the same wheel since the ABS sensor is behind the hub.

Ok good. I thought I got soaked at $579, but I guess not

The abs was on the same hub

My car doesn't have ABS but the ABS warning light has come on a few times over the years.

The Floorguard guy just left. $2540 for the entire garage (405sf), which includes the concrete footers, and with a 20-year warranty on delamination/flaking. He uses an epoxy base, with a polyaspartic top coat (and silica for grip), and told me that most of the garages he does are for guy who want to work on their car. It's going to suck to move everything from the garage to inside the house for a few days, as well as parking outside in winter, but whatever. This is definitely worth it.

Yeah, looking back it seems to be the negatives are the cost and prep required. I researched just about every floor covering from epoxy, rubber mats, waffle surface, leaving it bare concrete, etc. They all have their own pros and cons. Since I'm working with new construction the hassle of emptying the space won't be a problem.

I still might go with the raised waffle surface for the commuter parking area. It drains off rain and snow and isn't slippery when doing so. Downside of those is you can't jack up vehicles on it, but that won't matter since the shop area of the garage will have an epoxy floor (and a lift).

I looked at mats (rolled and tiles), as well. I can tell you that years of salt, snow and rain have done a number on the floor. Completely wore down the epoxy paint, and there's an area the size of a football where there's spalling. They have to grind it out and fill it with an epoxy filler before the floor covering goes on.

They're running a 10% discount right now, but I also had to pay $250 more to remove the existing paint and for the repairs.

I've never looked at anything garage floor related online or in real life, but after viewing this thread, I get a Facebook ad selling rubberized garage floor mats in my news feed. :scared:

Be glad that nobody mentioned male performance enhancement pills. You know, like Viagra. They're blue pills.

What is the cost of material v labor for this garage floor junk?

Hard to say because you can't buy the epoxy that these companies use. But given that they're diamond grinding the floor, then shot blasting it, I'd say it's tilted in the labor's direction heavily.

Looking at trucks. What a garbage market.

Rangers are 8K less than F-150's.

Used trucks with 80K+ Miles are still near $30K. Not gonna get a truck for a few years, but man is it obscene.

Was just talking to some folks about just how large the new Ranger is. They missed the point; it should have been Colorado sized at best.

If and when gas hits $4, lots of people will be looking to unload them.

No they won't. Seeing as the ecoboost f150 gets like 22 mpg.
