The son of a friend of mine decided to get one of those safe driving devices installed in his car. He was trying to save some money on insurance. Not sure what company it was, but when he got his next bill, it was $50 dollars higher then the previous one. Not sure what he was doing wrong but I didn't know they could punish you with one of those devices.
That was my fear about doing that with the big name company i use that promotes it vigourously. They give a 3% discount for signing up and using the app or whatever is required to have that big brother device. I figure after one 6 month policy cycle they recoup that with higher rates on most people based on the data they receive.

No thanks All State - Just bone me the old fashioned way instead please.

My car is for sale and I hope to have it gone by the first week of March so none of this really affects me.
Did the original owner back out of the deal? Or is he waiting for the weather to get better so he can drive it back home?

He spent $60k for a very similar car, but with an aftermarket stainless steel frame. I was asking $45k, the frame costs $11k. He did some funny math.

Post script to that. He flew down to DMCH in early December and gave them $60k. It's practically February and he has neither car nor title. Seems like there is a consignment sale problem happening. If he is able to get his money back he wants to buy my car.

Couldn't resist today. Weather 65 and sunny in February. Got my 61 Vette out for a drive. The older I get the more I enjoy driving this oldie. Maybe because when I'm behind the wheel going through the gears it makes me feel like I'm 17 again. Just a hunk of junk compared to today's cars but it made this oldie's day.

I just meant the technology and engineering in today's cars makes them much better for every day use. Cars today with power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, windshield wipers that work, a bunch of electronic gadgets, great ride and handling, low emissions and good mileage. They are very comfortable in any conditions, the C1 Vette isn't.
But it sure does get looks!

My wife would kill me, but every once in a while I browse ads for L88 67s.

Go for it. I have found, it is easier and more successful to ask for forgiveness then permission.

Well, I've put 200 miles on the Odyssey so far. Man, I love this vehicle. So many great features...helped that I got such a good deal on last year's top model. I had a couple buddies give me some flak at getting a van--F that, this is the most fun I've ever had driving a car. Going from a 2007 Civic to this feels like I stepped out of the Stone Age into the Space Age

This says more about your previous cars than it does your current mommie wagon.

I didn't have a lot of money growing up or earlier in my career. For me, having this much space is a luxury I've never had before. Vans have come a loooooooong way since the Dodge Caravans of the 90s.

Men who are jerks and who break traffic laws prefer high-status cars, study says
https://www.autoblog.com/2020/02/03/men ... tudy-says/

“The answers were unambiguous: self-centered men who are argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and unempathetic are much more likely to own a high-status car such as an Audi, BMW or Mercedes,” the researchers at the University of Helsinki wrote in a press release. To put a finer point on it, the study was published in the Journal of International Psychology under a surprisingly unscientific headline for an academic journal: “Not only dadholes drive Mercedes.”

My understanding is that for modern cars, ethanol-blended gas works fine and might even give better performance. I think the non-ethanol gas is for stuff like classic cars, lawn equipment, etc. where ethanol can cause problems.

That’s precisely why I want it - my lawn and snow equipment.

I live near the intersection of US 30, PA 283, and PA 72, all trucking routes so that's probably why it's here before other locations.

Has anyone signed up for Advantage Pay at get go?

I did and it was awesome for the first 3 months. 25 cent discount plus 30 cent promo on top of it for the first 60 days. Now the discounts are usually 5 cents off maybe 10. Often it's the same price as a larger station.

I think that's what they are hoping for. People sign up cause the first 3 months give you great discounts then stick around and play the gas lottery hoping to get a better than normal discount after the fact.

I never use Get-Go for my gas in general because I have perks to other places, or other places in general are cheaper.

Yeah. I go by a get go every day so it's not a problem for me, but I'm not always empty when I go by.. The past few times I've been getting enough to get back there, only to pay roughly the same price. I will say it is nice getting 10 cents off per gallon after buying 25 gallons (with the 2 perks per gallon). But I'm not sure it's worth it if the discount is a marginal few cents.

An American Natural popped up right next to a Get Go near me, and it almost always sets the price for the 3-4 gas stations in the area. They also have a happy hour where the price is sometimes 10 cents cheaper and an app where you can get further discounts. They are by far the better place to go.

Speedway has random price cuts too. There aren't any convenient to me. It's either GetGo, Pilot, or Sheetz.
