Shifting the car battery talk to this thread, has anyone used NAPA or AC Delco recently? Those would be near the top of my list if the Duralast's in our cars goes. Die Hard was always my go to years ago, but the last time I checked, they skyrocketed in price.

I can't speak specifically to Genesis, but my old Hyundai was highly reliable, and my current Kia didn't need a single repair during the five years it was under warranty, which ended earlier this year. I would gladly buy another car made by the Hyundai/Kia group.
My parents have a Sorento that is the same way. I think the only negative about them is they drop in value quickly, but if you plan on keeping them forever it might not be a huge deal.

All of this battery talk today and it took 30 seconds to turnover my car in the garage this afternoon. No chance this battery lasts through the winter.

Are your leads corroded? I could see that causing issues where the car is drawing more current (due to the extra resistance) than normal.

looking at the discussion here reminds me that I haven't fired up the miata in probably 3-4 months. Just threw a new battery in it over the summer too.

Battery in my Miata is 8 years old. Still works fine but I should probably replace it......SOON!

Did QuantumScape Just Solve a 40-Year-Old Battery Problem?
On Tuesday, for the first time, QuantumScape’s cofounder and CEO, Jagdeep Singh, publicly revealed test results for the company’s solid-state battery. Singh says the battery resolved all of the core challenges that have plagued solid-state batteries in the past, such as incredibly short lifetimes and slow charging rate. According to QuantumScape’s data, its cell can charge to 80 percent of capacity in 15 minutes, it retains more than 80 percent of its capacity after 800 charging cycles, it’s noncombustible, and it has a volumetric energy density of more than 1,000 watt-hours per liter at the cell level, which is nearly double the energy density of top-shelf commercial lithium-ion cells.
That'd be great for EV. I just looked at the list of EVs available in the US as of right now, and the only one that I like - and not even all that much - is the Tesla model S. And there's no chance I'd pay what they're asking for it. So I'll probably never own an EV.

Discovered my Pilot, with 4000 miles on it, has a cracked rear tail light. Not great. Where do you guys go online to get replacement parts, if not from a dealer?

Yeah, rockauto.com for new. Even eBay is worth checking out, as a lot of yards now put their stuff there.

There are a handful of 2020 Pilot right tail lights for around $150 on eBay right now. I was expecting much higher.

The prices are all over the place. $250 from O'Reilly's, down to $140 at some place called PartsGeek.com

No way would I purchase it from O'Reilly's. They've always been overpriced.

Just know that Rock Auto, etc. is selling you a 3rd party light, not a Honda manufactured light. Is this a 2020 Pilot?

Took my car to a new shop tonight for an oil change and inspection/emission. Got home and checked the receipt, and noticed that the oil change wasn’t on it. Did they forget to charge me? I go check the oil filter in my car... yep, same dirty filter. They completely forgot to do the oil change. Guess I’ll try the other shop I found next.

Well I finally did it. I bought a new (to me) vehicle. 2018 ram 2500 cummins. Bit of an upgrade but I don't think I'm going back to work physically for a while and my brother bought a camper last year, so now I can tow it around for him (and use it :pop: )

Going to try and milk a couple hundred bucks out of my 2003 accord with 384k miles on it. it's inspected until August 21 and has 4 brand new tires as well as a new battery.

A manual? I'm guessing those are disappearing from the used market.

384k miles. holy crap  How much engine\transmission work was needed to get to that mileage?

I did want a manual, however the wife may have/want to drive it occasionally so I went with the automatic. The 68rfe is a pretty solid auto trans. So I'm hoping it doesn't let me down. It has 55k miles on it.

I was going to list it at $1500.

It has a power steering fluid leak I've been dealing with for like 4 months now. The cooler line is just rusted to ****. Would be a 1 hour fix but it's easier for me to just keep dumping fluid in

Occasionaly the TCS light comes on and seems to mess with the park shift interlock.

CEL has been on and off since 2012. It's an air fuel sensor. Still gets 28mpg.

Airbag light on and off. Front sensor is bad.

It may only last another inspection year before it's donezo if I'm being completely honest. If interested I'll take some pics when it hopefully warms up and I can at least clean it out.
